#62 here - 14k miles
funny part is ever notice the vin #'s are not in order of the edition #? They were apparently the last 100 05's built, but must have just randomly grabbed the stickers to put on the console.
I would like to get a set of wheels (following is order of preference) and wondering if anyone has a set they want to get rid of
1) polished sidewinders
2) six-spokes
3) polished 5 spokes
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
Could you imagine the following. Road & Track (or publication of your choice) does their first road/track test of the GenV Viper later this year. They go on and on about the improvements, how great it...
+1. no need to have a revised rear when you finally have a really good looking one. Only reason to have a different rear can't because they have always have done it that way...
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
Would you rather not know the decisions they had to factor in? To me, its just more info and insight to what you are buying and the people that make it. If you feel dissappointed, don't buy the car. If...
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
You did not mean to be any disrespect... You are not in a race car, so why pretend you are? Also, don't pretend our vipers are Lambo's as they are not (good and bad). Having said that, what are you...
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
Do we really think we needed the car to be wider? IMO, It is already kind of a pig on size anways and would have been great to be a bit shorter, lighter, etc. I totally love the new car and will get one...
Has anyone seen the srt hood in person on an actual car? I have seen the gts hood on the gen V and to me, looks more agressive, functional and better style than the gen4 vents that look to be trying to hard. I have no idea how the gen 4 vents will look on this hood in person, but I "think"...
for me, glad they are gone. they were needed to fill a dead spot in the car design. now we have a functional scoop in that spot instead that has a purpose. The racecar requires them for night racing. so, my opinion, please do not put them on the street cars.
In person, side by side, I feel we will have a different story. To see in person, I never felt it lacked agressiveness, especially when compared to prior years.
Using simple production/sales facts, the data says the following:
Gen 1 (92-95) = 5988 – avg of 1497 units per year
Gen 2 (96-02) = 11958 – avg of 1708 units per year
Gen 3 (03-06) = 8186 – avg 2047 units per year
Gen 4 (08-10) = 2453 - avg 818 units per year
The Gen4 was hit hard by...
I think this is where you logic gets a bit confusing. Drive an AC Cobra on the track with bias ply tires, drum brakes that fade after two laps, manual brakes and steering, then jump in one with same power but have radials, disc, power brakes and power steering and tell me they did not help you...
I must admit, I have been a little frustrated reading various posts about the "purest" and what they like/don't like with the new car. Anyway, made me think to as the question what is the line or definition for the purest
Taken to the extremes, the purist would not accept the power steering...
You are driving a Viper in freezing conditions? Your statement of ABS is shocking to me, but then again, I would not buy an early year viper because of the brakes. ABS clearly makes steering the car EASIER in a panic situation and you do have more control of the steering aspects because you...
So then anti-lock brakes are the nanny you are referring to introduced in 2001-10? Never heard anyone before complain about abs, particularly in relation to performance. I do totally get your point later that you make around the expense all these features cost folks that don't want them, but...
See, now you are talking to the wrong guy. I spend a ton of time on the track (road coursesa) as I think that is what these cars are great at, but if all it takes is to push a button to turn off nannies, then I am not going to complain and in fact think it will be best for the majority of...
What is the ignored market you speak of that the gen1 (original viper) solved, but the gen 2/3/4 did not? In relative terms, the viper has consistently been the most brutal and easy to work on car for the time. The genv does not seem like much of a departure (if at all) from the core parts you...
That is interesting. I was just assuming they had done all of the testing with the new size? maybe they have with some proto type versions, but not avail or just assuming the 10mm difference will not be that big a deal in testing (only better).
