great article and really some of the best angle shots of the design with explanation. I loved it when first saw in person, but continue to like it even more as I see it more.
I disagree. They are just a way to integrate both the turn signals in the area as well as a new aspect to help identify a car and are the running lights in many cases which have a safety aspect to them. So, while you may not like the look, don't say they don't serve a purpose.
Classic...
Like they laugh at HID lights today or LED tailights? I don't think so as look how silly the lighting looks now on 60's and 70's cars. It is just evolution and suspect like everything else, those done tastefully will look good for a long time and those that don't, will looks silly.
I wonder if you only counted folks that have seen the new car in person what the results would be?
Interesting though, the more I look at all these photoshops (btw, thanks for doing), I am so glad the fog lights are gone. I no longer get distracted by looking at a part of the car that is not...
All good info, but I am still not sure why we should care? If someone wants to buy a mustang, then they should but they were never in the market for a Viper. If buying a z06 or zr1, then I can see them also considering the viper, but hoping HP is not their driving factor of their decision.
Why the silly Mustang vs Viper discussion? If you are in the market for a 95-120k Viper, are you really considering a $55k mustang? And the reverse question as well? Just seems like two cars that are totally unrelated to each other on every possible level and I don't think their target...
Ahh, gotcha on the yellow. Yes, when referring to more viper, I was meaning more in reference to the snake it was named after. The cross-hair grille for all the early years was simply a dodge brand and really had no snake influence. The headlights attempted that aspect. With the new car, I...
Just to make sure I understand this correctly. A car that is lighter, more powerful, better geared, better handling, massive interior improvements and looks substancially better (my opinion, but see in in person and you will know), and you say you are "underwhelmed". What would have made you...
really? confused it for something else? For me, it is pure viper and actually more so than prior models. What color is the inside of a snake mouth? usually darker than the rest so I think that aspect is more snake like. I also think the headlights are much more snake like. So, while...
wow, imo that is hidius. Way too busy in the front and why do we need foglights anyways? I for one was glad to see the functional vents, less weight and no worry of a useless part to break. foglights were needed in prior design because nothing useful was in that big space. I don't think...
why have the softtop at all if you had a proper hardtop convertible. push a button and have it drop down when you want open air. Put it up when you want and even use for the track. Ne need to two tops or having to store a top anywhere.
Again, only viable if can be done at low weight and...
agreed. Would be interesting to have a hardtop conv though. The technology is there, but the trick could they do it with low weight and low complexity.
I think it is self-induced from viper owners that add superchargers and turbos so they can then wreck their cars on the street and then the folks that just drag race the cars. Reality is you have to have skills to drive one of these beasts fast in the turns and on a track and those turbo's and...
I am just happy the cartoon headlights of the past are gone. I really like the new ones and they really have the snake look and add great presence to the car.
Have you seen the car in person? Anybody agreeing with this statement see it in person? I have seen it and many ACR's like yours and will tell you to see them both, I don't think "chick car" will come to mind. The proportions just are not well represented in photo's, but much more impressive...
I love the LED's. They really help identify the car and look awesome in the dark. Suggest looking at the video on why the design as it gives a whole new appreciation. My request is to remove the fog lamps as they looks so old school and cartoonish on this car.
I can't tell if I like the...
Great shot comparison. Each great for their time, but hands down, the GenV is the best looking to me and actually in these shots looks meaner and slicker. Sits low and I think is more agressive front to rear and gladly nothing cartoonish about it.
I think the greatness of the car is that it is Naturally aspirated. You ever driven a supercharged car on the track for a day. In order to keep it working (not heatsoaking), you need a ton of cooling and just not as trackable. Again, I am biased that these are track machines and really is the...
