Yes, did it to mine last year. Very impressive on the street and the track. I just ordered a differential with gears and unit installed and then swapped with original unit. What # is your commemorative?
Wow, you saw the car at VOI and this pic (which is close) and you still want to keep your Gen4? I can understand the folks just looking at a rendering and not having the VOI reference point to fill in the gaps... Having seen both, I think the car is such an improvement over all the prior...
Put them both on a track and you will understand. You don't have braking and I don't mean just one panick stop, but over and over again. Again though, this is my bias that I rate the cars by. I am not street racing or drag racing, but on a track.
Actually, I think you are missing my main point. (I do understand yours) Corvettes have different models that look very much the same (for the same year) and the fact that you can get a new one for in the $50's for a base model and then $120s for high end is the issue. This is not the case...
Don't want to get into the gen2 vs gen 3/4 debate on design. There is passion on both sides, but would have to agree gen3/4 is a better car in every way other than possibly looks (which many have debated over the years). Also, to add context I owned a 65 corvette stingray for many years as...
Agree, apples and oranges. If you were thinking of getting the new Viper and now read that the mustang was 65hp and $55k, did you even blink and think you should get the mustang instead? Doesn't matter if it had 1000hp, just not interested (if a viper is what I wanted). Now if I was in the...
Completely agree with RS. I think you would be crazy not to trade your Gen2 for the Gen5 (ignoring price) IMHO, it is clearly better in every way and a clear evolution of the design. I even believe for the other 50% that prefer the gen3/4, they will view as significant upgrade and evolves...
in regards to the camparison to the Audi rear (which I disagree with) notice this comparison. Would you also say this car looks like the audi from the rear?

(not...
It will still be snake eyes (design point), just not in a low cost way. There really are no sharp edges on the hood, extremely curvy (extreme). The rear was like an aston martin, so if you don't like that, you won't like this, but never any sign of an audi in it. I think it might be the...
I can only laugh when folks have concerns on the headlight design. The gen 1/2's has some of the ugliest headlights and tailights and hood (weakest part of the car's design) and gen 3/4 improved on those aspects, but lost some of the curves. This car is a great blend and even the headlights...
The front was spectacular in person, especially the hood. It is great because it does not have the cartoon front that gen 2's had (the weakest design of that car in my opinion), but instead has the curves in hood to better match the rest of the car. Much more agressive and unique at the same time.
It is very very close to what was at VOI. The rear was more impressive in person, but this does have the details that we saw. also the hood here is more accurate.
So let me understand this. Folks are upset because they did not like the "tease" technique and then others are upset because of leaks of information? Is it just me, or does it seem like there is no way to make everyone happy? Reminds me of the classic Gen2 vs Gen 3/4 debates that are just...
Agree with Jon. I have done this on my 05. Only mod was the cats. It sounds better, little deaper tone and slight rumble. 8-10hp is probably right, but hard to tell. Biggest reason to do is cooler (much cooler) inside and lighter. (guess is 10-15lbs lighter on each side.
btw, I did not...
Great show. Good to See Ivan interviewed. My car was just to the right of him and I didn't even notice until my daughter points it out. Pretty cool to meet so many of those folks in SLC.
What I saw at VOI looks nothing like the Ferrari and in my opinion, much better than the volado design. I think the Volado design is the most interesting of all the guesswork designs out there though. So, if you did not get a chance to see it, you should just know you will be excited when you...
ok, that is great to know.
Now, if I had sensors in both sets of wheels, will that work? do I have to have the dealer set it up so it recognizes both sets?
If I have two sets of factory wheels (one for the track and one for the street), but only have TP sensors in the street version, can I change wheels back and forth and still not have the alert on the dash with the street tires? don't want to be going back and forth to the dealer.
Agree, very good taste.
Besides being a unique car, other thing about the edition most don't realize is first Gen3 conv with factory stripes, very unique stripe package, and i believe the last 100 2005's made were these cars.
I think only version since to have same stripe package was...
I think in many ways, you just have to look back at history a bit to determine if true. Look at the 60's muscle car era and the values of those cars today...
My family always had corvettes when I was growing up (ironically up until I could drive). I remember '58, '62', '63 split-window...
interested in your sct tuner/tune for 2005 viper. Mine is stock except hi-flow cats and likely going to 3.33 gears soon.
So, wondering more about your tune and how comparable to viper specialties? also, any thermostat change needed?
Lastly, if I want to keep the "burble" on decel...
