    Loud noise after head/cam swap

You must have installed the pushrod with the tip not centered in the lifter. Its easy to do. Always look into the hole in head gasket for the pushrod with a flashlight and make sure the pushrod is centered.

    Crank Pully Failure

This failure has to do with the cronk bolt coming loose. Many times the crankshaft becomes damaged, sometimes you can save it but need to pin the crank as some scoring on the end of the crankshaft can degredate the fit of the balancer. Use a new bolt, you might want to upgrade to a SFI balancer...

    Oil Pan Gasket Change

Mopar Steve is the guy. Some trivia here, but if you compared the old gasket to the new gasket you can see a big change in the way is was designed. The new gasket has 4 areas where the aluminum gasket is cut and filled with a rubber elastomer that allows it to expand and contract with heat. The...

Front Brakes for a 1999 GTS

These pads can only be used on the street, have less brake torque and will fade quite quickly when heated. They will dust less but will not brake as well as the stock pads. if you are on a budget, go with a Stoptech, Hawk or EBC direct replacement pad. If you are using a differing pad than...

How much better are the 01-02 ABS brakes

I was able to test the new ABS vs the old non ABS system with Team Viper when they first came out. We tested 2001 vs 2000 cars in autocross, hands down the ABS car far exceeded the braking performance of the older cars. The brakes on both cars still faded with repeated use. End result was the...

    A/C Compressor Issues

You need to charge the system and leak test it, I have had only very few compressor front seal leaks over the years. Most likely its the high pressure to compressor hose or the o-rings.If its the pump, That can be fixed. Might be cheaper to get the new compressor from Lesser.

    Fuel Pump DIY?

The pump module, regulator and sending unit are both not available. You can get just a replacement pump, but 90% of the time the regulator or sending unit are the issue. I will look into make making a new module with everything, including the surge tank and allow it to support much more hp if...

gen 3 convertible rear caster adjustment and spec

You need to make some custom mounts to attach the gauge to the rear suspension. I would use it back in the day at the track when we had to make changes using chalk and string, let me see if I can drag it out and reproduce it.

Observations while Twin Turbocharging a 2014 SRT GTS

Sounds like a great build you have done on that new Viper, I can understand the time and effort that all takes. In regards to the clutch, being that that is a street car there would be two good options. For something like that I would want a clutch that has smooth engagement, soft pedal and was...

gen 3 convertible rear caster adjustment and spec

Rear caster is has to be set correctly or the car will be dangerous. We learned a lot with the rear steer Gen 1 cars, thus the big change in 1996 to the suspension and alignment. Your can measure rear caster with a gauge, Longacre has the tool, you just need to make a couple mounting tabs. We...

Paxton owners - GET RID OF YOUR FMU & SPLIT SECOND SETUP AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!

Re: Paxton owners - GET RID OF YOUR FMU & SPLIT SECOND SETUP AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSI In regards to the fuel system. Many folks jump into a fuel system without understanding how it all works. I have had many a high hp car with a "triple hanger" non surge bucket style pump setup come into the...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

One neat option is a short stroke engine, its been done and I drove a street car like this that was just amazing. With a much broader 7500rpm powerband you have a lot of area to work with. With a good short block, solid cam, light valvetrain and a budget external (wet) oil pump system, this can...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

We shoot for 190-210 cranking compression with a 228/232 cam, 114 intake centerline. It requires a recalibration. If the engine has less than 190 cranking compression it does not make good peak power numbers. The cam you run and where it is centerlined make a big difference. I tuned a car with...

    Overcooling ?

The early Vipers did not use a muffler bearing, but 92-early94 used a spring and conical washer mount for the rear muffler hanger that often made noise. You can change to the later rubber mounts or fabricate some muffler bearings and hangers, JC Witney sells those. :)

    Good news on R888 345/30-19's

Hey Bruce, It seems like it makes good sense to run a bigger front tire, but if the Gen 5 reacts like the Gen 4 the smaller 295 front tire is better. We tested all the sizes and found that the 295 has plenty of grip on the front, it is lighter and lets the car steer and transition better, the...

    Overcooling ?

The Gen 1 cars tend to run hotter than the rest. There are numerous things that can push it over the edge. Feel free to call me and I can go over this, there are quite a few things to check and numerous things you can do to improve the cooling system. 310-597-6295
