I went to replace the wiper blades on my GEN four with aftermarket they fit but they did not have a low profile like the stock ones. So I got creative. Mine were ripped about an inch down so I glued them with gorilla glue. That was five years ago, and I’ve used the wipers once. No problem.
Hi guys, I too am a happy owner of a Viper and a redeye. I am on my fourth Viber so obviously I’ve been very happy with the car. I have had all generations except for GEN five. Two years ago I bought a hellcat redeye. Just two days ago I made the hard decision to sell the Viper. I am up in years...
Vader viper, so let me get this right, you mixed tire profiles on the same car? Is that correct? that should NEVER be done. I can’t believe the tire shop did not tell you that.
had a gen2 with Borla and the sound was amplified. I put Borla mufflers on my 08 and it did NOT change the sound. Disappointed. Another owner on this site had the same experience a while back.
Had a Borla in my 2000gts and loved the sound. Went with it again on my 2008 gen4 vert and totally disappointed
it sounded exactly like the stocker. Your choice.
I put 355s in two of my past Viper‘s. A gen2 and a Gen 3. I was satisfied both times. My thoughts on the 373 would be really poor gas mileage and top end would suffer too much. The first one I bought the ring and pinion from Viper Parts and the second I bought just a standard ring and pinion for...
Don’t forget the clutch engagement and feel. The 08 is the first Viper with duel clutch disk. I have had all gens except gen five and I will tell you the clutch on my 08 is far superior than all of the previous generations. You also have a prettier and more aggressive looking hood. In addition...
Redtanrt is exactly right. There is a specific pattern and speed to the drive cycle that you must follow. I am confident if you do that you will clear the monitors. I owned a shop on long island with an inspection license. We would give the car back to the customer and explain what they had to...
Thank you, tophermecier. I think I will take your advice. I was looking for it to change over time in that it would slightly motivate when I put it in gear standing still. But that never happened.
Good afternoon fellow snake lovers. I have a question concerning the clutch operation. After starting the car cold, the first shift is difficult to engage. Subsequent shifts are smooth and shifting with the engine off are smooth. To me, this indicates a slight drag on the clutch disk as a result...
I agree with the previous comments about a possible clogged cat. The first thing that came to my mind when you said the car was in storage for an extended period of time was a clog exhaust. I had a customer that had the same situation and when we took the exhaust apart it was clogged with mice...
Don’t know if Viper falls in this category but some cars needed a code to be sent if at any time the radio went without power. Just thought I’d throw that out. Don’t think it applies to this case.
As has been stated, the clunk is more than likely to be the backlash adjustment. I am on my fourth Viper and I can say with reasonable certainty that Chrysler is a little bit sloppy on that adjustment at the factory. Nothing to worry about but the only way to take care of it is to take the...
Hey, welcome to the club. You’ll find out it will get infectious. I have owned vipers for 17 straight years and loved everyone of them. Take your time and get used to the car for if you’re not ready for it and you’re in an unusual attitude and you get aggressive it will bite you. My friend who...
OK guys, I got the skinny on this one.It is an actual crack in the glass. This is a common problem with those early years. I did take mine off and put a fiberglass resin patch on the backside of the consul. This worked out extremely well. Now for the good part. I had the same problem with a...
OK guys, I had the same problem with my 08. About six months ago I was driving along and I had a pretty decent bump.got out of the car And no damage. About 40 miles later I got the throttle plate light with the same symptoms everybody described. After $400 of diagnose to no avail my mechanic got...
You have to search coast to coast if you are fussy like we all are. My first was local, I live in pa. Second was in NY. Third was in new hampture. Fourth was in Arizona. Frankly, I love the hunt.
Got to do some hard thinking on this one. Keep in mind that this vehicle will never be worth what it was if it never got into an accident. It will always have a salvage certificate even if it’s put back to new condition. That number will be totally subjectionable.
I have had all generations except GEN five. All four including my 08 vert have excessive parasitic draw. The range was between seven to 31 days. What I do is I keep A battery tender on the vehicle at all times when not in use. I did have my 2000 GTS checked by my mechanic and came up with no...
Yes I agree. If anything I would err on the high side within reasonability. There is one thing we all can be sure of, in that all Vipers are on the rise.
Years ago I had to repair/replace a map light in the headliner of my 2000 GTS. Of course the only way to replace the map light was to buy the whole harness and headliner for $1200. But the harness from X2 Builders for 50 bucks and four hours later with a sixpack the job was done.
I had that recall done on my 2000 GTS by Tators Garage in upstate New York. I see you are in Virginia but it is still worth the trip. I trailered it from Pennsylvania. He can also help you out with any questions you may have before you purchase.
