2013 Dodge Viper coming in late 2012, stability control confirmed >>

I'm wondering if there's a reason why the mfrs won't allow the traction control/active handling be completely shut off. I think because their attorneys believe lawsuits will be tried by those who turned them off, got into serious trouble, and then blame the mfrs for a faulty system. :dunno:

2013 Dodge Viper coming in late 2012, stability control confirmed >>

This comment was aimed at those who just drive their Viper for a short time; short thrill rides, easy Sunday drives of say a half hour, or just for the track. All only in perfect weather. They aren't concerned about long drive capability and/or bad weather capability. Those that want some...

    Washington/Oregon Viper Tech's?

I hear ya - I had problems with "Viper Techs" too but not as bad as your experience. Can you share what you found?

I am a Viper Purist but I can see that the new Viper has to change.

"Let the younger buy......." Hey, we older folks aren't ready to die yet! We're not rolling over for the kids; we can nuture them (only if they will appreciate it) but we still get to live.

Looks good to me. This Viper is going to be for those who want to drive them all the time, not just the track.

    Viper Art Finished

Spaceship and monster thing I don't get. The Viper car should be a little bigger.

I am a Viper Purist but I can see that the new Viper has to change.

Classic answer from a Porsche snob. (her not you) She may change her mind, at least a little, after driving one. I think the one problem with the low sales may be the price. As much as I like the Vipers and as an owner, they are overpriced for what they are as a car. For a...

I think this rarity thing is a little oversold. I think it hurts us in the parts/repair world!

What do OEM cats sell for? (scrap)

Quality wise, there's nothing even close to the factory cats. Aftermarket cats will go bad long before factory cats do. Factory cats have mandated specs that aftermarket don't have to follow (and they don't).

Anyone done cooled seats in their Viper?

Laying a thick large white towel over the seat can help.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on an ACR Voodoo but ....

I have noticed the variation in body fit among the Gen III/IV myself; just shop around until you find one with the better fit. Trunk and door gaps were the areas I noticed most of the variation. Do look at the hood fit though I haven't noticed variation here as much.

New Member -- Deciding Between c6 Z06 or Gen III Coupe

Neither although many here will say the stock gears are too tall. It doesn't do a good job of keeping the rear straight when the fishtail starts. There's a combination of causes here but the "limited slip" feature of the stock differential is next to worthless in my opinion. The Giken or...

The Viper is more reliable and doesn't break as easy as the Vette. I don't give a whit about exclusitivity; I wish there were more Vipers running around so that the cost and availability of Viper parts/repair would be easier. It does seem to get more positive attention than the Vette. Modding...

New Xmetal TB, need SCT tunes?

Omega - I've had an Xmetal and it did not need re-tuning at all to run fine. I was lucky enough to re-install the TPS just right without having to check the voltage setting.

If you are considering new cam, here's some data

Dipapa - how are you going to get this past emission checkup time? Reversion - undesirable side effect of overlap - when both the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time - too much overlap allows exhaust gases to contaminate the intake charge at lower rpms, reducing power...

Help, window not retracting when door is opened

Often, I hit the up switch again to make sure it is all the way up; so far that has taken care of the problem.

Striker Heads and Cam on GenIII

Dan and Greg: Can either one of you toss out some cam specs for what we are talking about here? Like the torque vs hp? It's a lot easier for me (maybe us) to feel out if we can compare it to the stock cam (got those too?). I like to compare the lift, duration at .050, and overlap. Although...
