I'm wondering if there's a reason why the mfrs won't allow the traction control/active handling be completely shut off. I think because their attorneys believe lawsuits will be tried by those who turned them off, got into serious trouble, and then blame the mfrs for a faulty system. :dunno:
This comment was aimed at those who just drive their Viper for a short time; short thrill rides, easy Sunday drives of say a half hour, or just for the track. All only in perfect weather. They aren't concerned about long drive capability and/or bad weather capability. Those that want some...
"Let the younger buy......." Hey, we older folks aren't ready to die yet! We're not rolling over for the kids; we can nuture them (only if they will appreciate it) but we still get to live.
Classic answer from a Porsche snob. (her not you) She may change her mind, at least a little, after driving one.
I think the one problem with the low sales may be the price. As much as I like the Vipers and as an owner, they are overpriced for what they are as a car. For a...
Quality wise, there's nothing even close to the factory cats. Aftermarket cats will go bad long before factory cats do. Factory cats have mandated specs that aftermarket don't have to follow (and they don't).
I have noticed the variation in body fit among the Gen III/IV myself; just shop around until you find one with the better fit. Trunk and door gaps were the areas I noticed most of the variation. Do look at the hood fit though I haven't noticed variation here as much.
Neither although many here will say the stock gears are too tall. It doesn't do a good job of keeping the rear straight when the fishtail starts. There's a combination of causes here but the "limited slip" feature of the stock differential is next to worthless in my opinion. The Giken or...
The Viper is more reliable and doesn't break as easy as the Vette. I don't give a whit about exclusitivity; I wish there were more Vipers running around so that the cost and availability of Viper parts/repair would be easier. It does seem to get more positive attention than the Vette. Modding...
Omega - I've had an Xmetal and it did not need re-tuning at all to run fine. I was lucky enough to re-install the TPS just right without having to check the voltage setting.
Dipapa - how are you going to get this past emission checkup time?
Reversion - undesirable side effect of overlap - when both the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time - too much overlap allows exhaust gases to contaminate the intake charge at lower rpms, reducing power...
Dan and Greg:
Can either one of you toss out some cam specs for what we are talking about here? Like the torque vs hp? It's a lot easier for me (maybe us) to feel out if we can compare it to the stock cam (got those too?). I like to compare the lift, duration at .050, and overlap. Although...
