Starting hunt for the right Viper

PM me if you're still looking. This car is currently available: early production 1st gen w/only 8k and a few performance add-ons. It's been Professionally color changed from Red to Viper Snake green, w/1st gen 3 spoke rims refinished in dark charcoal gray (mounted on new tires)... so it may...

About Dodge Dealerships (post good for first-time buyers)

the sad thing is many of the great dealers have closed their doors. Among them, Monicatti Chrysler in MI (one of the oldest Mopar Speed Shops in the country) I believe has closed, although they may still be selling select Mopar performance parts. Westoaks Dodge (another old SpeedShop)...and...

    I don't understand some people........

welcome to my world :p (I buy/sell stuff on the side). I can be selling the nicest *whatever* around, or in some cases, the only one around, and I still get these window-shoppers. It usually starts off with the standard 20 questions, and then after giving each individual a detailed answer....I...

    How many Viper models?

If where getting into the various editions, can we count the 1-off "raffle cars"?? I recall a ACR-Plus option pkg in 00, which could be added to ACR, but that wasn't really an "edition". Finally, I'll also add the Indy Pace-Cars. Although they weren't exactly available to the public, they were...

    Matte Paint On a Viper

I agree, the Hurst car looked off....like it was in need of a buff or covered in salt. The satin gold actually reminded me of the antique-looking x-mas ornaments on me tree lol. But it's still a cool car, no argument. With that said, I would never lay matte paint on one, just because you...

Considering selling the Viper for a Ford GT. Opinions

Although I wouldn't think the Viper would stack up favorably against a GT (they're apples and oranges really), when someone who owns them both says the Viper is the one to hold onto.....that opens my ears. I honestly don't know of anyone who has owned them simultaneously. Usually they "graduate"...

    Ever get called a Corvette?

ppl around here are pretty good, I've never had someone say to me "is that a vette"...but it happens to friend's all the time.

Considering selling the Viper for a Ford GT. Opinions

I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. A dream toy for less?? or a good investment? There's some good advice in this thread, so I'll just reiterate what a few already mentioned. Salvage titled often nothing to be scared of if the work is done right, if you're looking for a...

    Newbie on deck....what's shakin' ppl?

You're close! (and very good). I'm currently in Ontario now, but the eastcoast is where I call home. Great to see there are other Canadian boys on here. I guess we Canucks get around.

Which Shelby-inspired car should I get signed?

Although he signs a fair bit, I wouldn't think his autograph would take away from an items value. In Canada, it's seems bit different. Although he was here this past year for a gala in his honor, I honestly think prior to that, the last time we saw his was back in the late 80s when he and Lee...

    Ever get called a Corvette?

While at a party, a few of us guys were outside talking cars (or attempting to), then a friend of a friend looked over at the neighbor's red WS6 Firebird (00-ish)....and said "yeah, that's a sweet...umm...Viper over there". I just giggled and said "yeah, it sure is", but another guy corrected...

What are you guys with black cars using?

^ true that, it never stays clean for long. I've anyways had at least a couple black cars, and it's often a love/hate thing, but I wouldn't trade them. I still have a hard time finding products (waxes/glazes/sealants) that have any longevity in terms of their protection. We get snow & salt here...

Which Shelby-inspired car should I get signed?

I got a few high-end Shelby cars in my collection anyway...most of which I inherited, some are rare, so I thought getting a Sig on one or two wouldn't hurt, cuz he's getting up in the year. Plus Im a fan. Shelby Cobra it is I'm thinking. I got a nice 67 I might send.

    Newbie on deck....what's shakin' ppl?

As a hobby, I'm an auto-broker, and occasionally buy & sell (odd ball stuff mostly)...but I usually play with them a little before I let them go. I've had a few, currently it's a Red ragtop SRT-10, but I'm partial to the rawness of the 1G body style. Although I've owned a few, I've never really...

Future most collectable cars article on yahoo

^ wow! those would be some impressive rides to have today. Any idea where any of those cars ended up? (that Hemi 'cuda would obviously be something to retire off of). My father had a few hot ones, most ended up in the hands of kids who broke them up, but a couple are still floating around. And...

Which Shelby-inspired car should I get signed?

yeah, I guess there is several. It just seemed that fewer manufacturers were making the GTs (and most guys who even collect ford stuff, don't have one on a shelf)....but I guess I just never looked that had. thanks

Which Shelby-inspired car should I get signed?

Good advice so far guys. So I should probably go with something with Shelby's name attached to it, more so than a Viper....and a well known classic. A was surprised that nobody mentioned the Mustang. I guess Shelby Mustangs are too overplayed.

    Newbie on deck....what's shakin' ppl?

thanks for the welcoms guys! Yeah, I never used to use words like "ppl" or "lol" until about a year or two ago. Apparently I sounded too old for my age, so I made an effort not to. I'm not am avid texter, so that's not to blame. It's cool to hear there are a few younger guys here...although I...

What are you guys with black cars using?

thanks for the reply so far guys! Junkman2008, I totally agree that how a person polishes is more important than the products themselves to a degree. Polishes cut/flatten and fix paint, very true. Wax does little more than add protection and extra depth. I buy and sell odd ball cars as a...

What are you guys with black cars using?

Although I'm well versed when it comes to detailing, I'm always curious to hear what ppl with black cars are using to keep them shiny, swirl free and deep looking. I continue to try new products as they hit the market, but I know there's others I've never even heard of. So, what are you guys...

    Polishing with Pledge

Pledge over time....isn't even good for wood. Ask any antique dealer that. Not sure why, but it turns finishes funny overtime (I've used it on a few old pieces, and now you can take your thumbnail and scrap the finish off). With that said, I doubt it would to anything to paint....although in...

Which Shelby-inspired car should I get signed?

Given the choice, which Shelby-inspired car should I get autographed, and it what scale? Although naturally I'd choose a Viper, this is going to be more of a small investment to add to my collection (his signature come @ the cost of a $190 donation & about $80 in return shipping), so I want to...
