Check the rear trunk/hatch breather vents. Pull up the carpet in the sides of your trunk and you will see a multiple louver/flap thingys. If a few are stuck open then that is more likely your problem. At WOT with the windows down exhaust fumes can get sucked in em if not sealing properly.

Nice effort. Wish my wife would simply like my Viper enough to want to take pictures of it. LOL
My only critique is the overuse of contrast. The blacks are far to clipped. AKA the tires dissapear into the shadow making it look like your riding on rims only, showing off the huge stock wheel...
Now its your job to represent the snake well and give her all the glory and attention she deserves. Answer peoples questions, If someone is very interested Insist that they sit in her. Look at the smiles. Feal the positive energy. You have the power to "make" peoples days. Embrace it :-)
Today...
I think it might be harder to get off the line(launch) with the 3.73 or 4:10's. These vipers are hard enough stock to get off the line for most people and i think that a lower effective 1st gear would make matters worse. Havnt experienced anything but the 3.07's myself so maybe others can chime...
John, Im a beach person. Like you i enjoy the sun. ...No, i crave the sun :-). The boost of serotonin & vitaminD combined with riding in an awesome roadster with the wind and all of mothernature around you is a truly uplifting experience.
There are plenty of RT/10 owners who deny this...
Stop reading books & playing video games and get on the track already!!! :-)
If youve read the atwistofthewrist series then you are on the right track IMO. A lot of that stuff applies to cars as well. Also, going through the GT & Forza career things give you alot of relevant knowledge for the...
+1 AZTVR, LMAO :-)
And maybe srt will redesign our car with the suspension travel & stiffness of an ALMS racecar leaving all of us that drive on anything but above average smooth roads with a teeth chattering harsh ride.
...actually i personally prob wouldnt mind that. Lol
All, take a look at...
Not 100% sure but: I remember reading that Lambo was specifically commissioned to assist in casting our block in aluminum alloy since at the time Chrysler had limited experiance and Lambo was further along with the technology. Then i remember reading that something happened causing lambo to not...
A better anology to a bananapeel is a tire that is overheated IMO
Cold tire = hockey puck :-)
Neil, how cold? Like what range min to max do you typically drive in?
Also, are we just talking about the street or do you track as well and how often?
Welcome Bruce,
A few questions to aid in responding with relevant info to you:
-Could you share your overall budget for Viper + modifications to make it track ready?
-Do you drive to the track on street tires and run as is, or do you do extra wheels with r-comps?
-Are you leaning toward any...
The first time you decided to floor it in 1st gear was "on an uneven surface pulling out on an incline".
Does anyone else find that... well... ....interesting?
Goodluck fixing your diff. If this is a common problem then someone should be able to point you towards some previous threads on...
Allan, i agree with the rest of your post, but the above statement is not true of everyone who shops at sumitt. Why are you a hater of something you apparently know so little about?
Heck, i estimate that more than half of all viper owners are posers that modify their cars to look at them...
Coating? I thought it was just polished plastic.
The ones on my 13yr old +70K GTS look like new. The entire black surrounding area appears to be the same material to me and have used a fine grit compund and plastic polish to clean up fine scratches before.
How's you steeringwheel & shifknob look?
I dont mind talking gen 1-5 with fellow Viper nuts. But for the general population IMO our VCA forum has it right: RT/10 & GTS, and SRT-10 Vert&Coupe.
This is how the average person knows Vipers. Two generations. The older curvey ones and the newer non-curvey ones.
Any time i run into a random...
Right, Thats what i said. "The stock shifter doesn't have enough (if any) self centering action to keep the shift shaft in the 2/4 gate line. When you upgrade to ANY aftermarket shifter this problem is resolved"
When i said aftermarket shifter i meant the actual mechanisim. Like the $300 part...
KDR83, I have HRE574R's in 19's. They are the same design as your HRE547's besides the outer part of the lip.
I WISH i could trade someone even to get 18's on my front in the same make. I like the 19's on the rear though...
My tires are shot and im planning on replacing in time for...
I disagree. If this happened then an even larger % then now would have salvage titles or be in a salvage yard.
I do think that every car guy should go for a ride as a passenger in a Viper:2tu:
I Love the mechanical fealing of the tremecT56. The only problem is the stock shifter (...and the user;))
The stock shifter dosnt have enough (if any) self centering action to keep the shift shaft in the 2/4 gate line. When you upgrade to ANY aftermarket shifter this problem is resolved and if...
Yea, Stick with the 8". Iv’e seen a few Vipers with wider and skinnier stripes in person and IMO it doesn’t do as much justice to the lines of the car as the OEM ones that were laid by the artistic geniuses that styled our GTS.
Depends. 30 & 40 are each a number assigned to a range. Once an oil's viscosity gets high enough it gets bumped into the next range. So a 30 at the upper end of its range could be damn close to a 40 that is lower in its range.
The higher viscosity alone can give a motor more protection when...
