Hopefully the GTS becomes the next Ford GT. It is similar in a few ways, it has low production numbers, especially the 1 year only colors, it is an iconic body style that never goes out of style, descent performance and they are getting harder and harder to find nice low mile pristine cars. I...
Holy crap, $2,290 for property tax EVERY year. Does that include insurance I hope. That is crazy. Between that and the speeding ticket cost in Va I think I would move out of that state really quick. Literally highway robbery.
Re: any viper owners with knee replacements --can you get in and out and drive you vi
Yes, I have no issues driving the Callaway either. Although, isn't mentioning the Corvette on this forum taboo... ;-) j/k
Re: any viper owners with knee replacements --can you get in and out and drive you vi
I have a hip replacement and have no issues driving the Viper. Mine is a Gen II and very tight inside.
Even with parking them you are paying insurance on them and there are no cars out there that appreciate more than what it cost to insure them. That said it is still nice when you can sell the car and recoup most of what you paid for it.
I think what frank means to say is don't buy "any car" for potential resale value. That said when compared to most cars the Viper holds it value very well. The rarer Vipers such as the one year colors, B&W and ACR's will definitely do much better than most of the other Vipers or Red cars which...
Yes definitely in the 60's if it is clean. Low miles does not always guarantee a pristine car, they can get beat up sitting in a garage. I would love to have a spare Sapphire/Silver GTS. I also thought mine was one of the lowest miles Sapphire/Silver known to exist at approx 3000 miles...
OMG, I am so sorry to hear this Steve. I would have NEVER thought this would happen to you guys. I wish you the best of luck with whatever happens. I hope you guys are able to work it out. If you do end up selling the Viper and truck, whoever gets them will be getting an incredibly well...
No cars are investments. They would need to double in value every couple of years to break even with insurance cost, tires, gas and maintenance. That said I do think some of the pristine low mileage Gen I and II's and even eventually III and IV's will hold their value well especially when...
John hit the nail right on the head. Not to mention Vipers are a specialty type of car that attract a certain type of person. Obviously there was not any of these people in the audience when this car went across the block. Rare 1 year color cars with super low mileage go for mid 50's to the...
Of course the time you spend looking for that super deal is that much less time you can be driving one. There is some value in driving now opposed to looking for one. Pending on where you are that may not be an issue yet but it will be come spring. Some people enjoy the chase. I prefer to be...
Listen to Steve, buy the best you can afford. Fixing issues adds up real quick on these cars. I would expect to be in the mid 40's before you start to find descent cars, although I am somewhat of a perfectionist. Those colors are also all one year only colors with low production numbers which...
Who all is in favor of banning Allan for devaluing our vipers. ;-)
I have of intention of selling my Viper anytime soon but do know if I ever do it will be for well above KBB value.
I just started playing around with it and so far I like it a lot. Has made it throughout the winter on my DD and it has been a horrible winter. Another detailer friend of mine uses it all the time and raves about it. That is what got me started using it. I don't have it on my Vette or Viper...
I find the Gen II styling iconic and nothing compares. All you need is some Random Tech high flow cats and Corsa's and the car is perfect. No more heat issues and sounds perfect. Maybe upgrade the brakes if you are a hard core track guy. Brakes are fine for the street. They are also at the...
I find the styling of the Gen II out weights the technology improvements of the newer models. It also has more performance than most people are able to "fully" use. I love when people are modding their cars trying to get more hp when the best mod you can do is the nut behind the wheel, money...
I too would go for an 01 or 02 unless you had you heart set on B&W.
I would get one with over 10,000 miles since you plan on putting a lot of miles on it, you pay a premium for cars with under 10k so you would be throwing that premium away. That said nice Vipers are hard to find so it may be...

Re: still no magazines yet
I didn't renew but back when I joined VCA it was right after I bought a year subscription so I expect I still have a year of Magazines left on my account. I have not received one yet either.
Low 40's is probably about right considering the mileage. I think Sapphire/Silver is one of the best colors made and relatively rare with only 86 made. Go for it.
