Any hints on how to make your car move smoothly from 1st gear??

What a good inexpensive rear wheel/tire setup for occasional drag racing?
My personal opinion.... Don't mess around with drag radials. Spend the few extra bucks to get the extra traction of ET streets. Get Purner's slick and skinny setup. Depending on what you mean by "inexpensive", ~$2500 for wheels with ET streets on the back and skinnies on the front mounted...- Venom Lover

2charmed, Sorry, SoCal is right. We depart from the Chevron station at 6 am, not 7 am. Just wishful thinking on my part.... BTW, I never ran quicker than a 12.8 in my Z06, so don't be disappointed with upper 12's. Also, you know you need a helmet, right? Sorry if I'm stating the obvious...- Venom Lover

Hmmm, I just noticed that as I was fueling up on the way home last night. I figured it was just Chevron, but are you saying all premium has gone to max 91 octane in CA??? Congrats on your first time at the drag strip. Did you enjoy it? 1. An approximation of rwhp can be made from trap speed. According to a table in Tom Welch's drag racing video, with a 116 mph trap speed, your wight to power ratio would be 8.4, so if your fully laden weight were 3600 lbs...- Venom Lover

Torque calculations
Yes, the same conversion factors apply for torque as for power, at least based on the numbers in the VCA FAQ. www.viperclub.org/faq/powerfaq.html Numbers cited for the '03 are flywheel. For your '96, take your 475 ft-lbs and divide by .87 to get ~545 ft-lbs.- Venom Lover

John D, When I click on U.S. (English), I do not see "corporate photos" as one of my choices. There are "recent headlines" on the right, including the 2003 Viper press release, and there are a bunch of Chrysler news clips in the middle, but no "corporate photos".....- Venom Lover
