Testimony to 2 great years with Viper community (long & mushy)

Thanks, Dave, Tom, and Mike. All the best to you guys in '02 as well! Ryan, I wasn't the one who said you didn't "deserve" a Viper. I just got the impression you were over here ragging on Vipers, so I said don't buy one! I know that was a little harsh/judgmental. Anyway, good luck with...

    New Viper Commercial

Brooks, After downloading the software, the commercial runs just fine! Thanks so much for doing that. Oh, BTW, I've been meaning to say for quite a while now... 11.6 on Michelin Pilots with your mods is ridiculously quick. In case you didn't already know!

    Cigarette lighter dead...possible causes?

Jim Thanks again for the response. I also thought at first that maybe the G-Tech was dead, so I tried the cigarette lighter itself as well as my cell phone charger, and neither worked. So, I concluded that it's the Viper....That or everything else in my life has gone to hell.... I'll check...

What are the best street tires for hooking up?

Ryan, Now if I actually knew something, maybe my contribution would be worthwhile! Let me try to clarify: when I'm going drag racing or want straight-line action on the street, I jack the car up and put on Purner's slick and skinny setup. They are 26x11.5-16 Mickey Thompson ET streets in...

What are the best street tires for hooking up?

Patrick, Looks like your situation may be a little different. I live in LA suburbia, where we don't have 100 mph corners. Well, ok, some lady a month ago thought we did a block away and crashed into a building after taking out a telephone pole. Though I don't think she was on slicks and...

Just got back from the LA Auto Show where I saw the SRT....

Mako, You don't like the car? Then don't buy one, dude, after all you're just a Corvette Troll! J/K Oh, BTW, I hope you lapped SloCal before your clutch gave up the ghost. What kind of lap times were you seeing? How are you liking the C5R motor (doh! stupid question, I'm sure! ) Sorry...

SRT TRAGEDY at LA auto show!!!

2charmed, There was no GT40 at the show, at least not in the Ford exhibit. (Again, maybe they were hiding one in back?) I saw the C&D article today as well and was impressed. My only complaint: I wish they would've achieved 500 bhp (or close to it) without the blower. Also 3000 lbs seems a...

Just got back from the LA Auto Show where I saw the SRT....

Russ, Excellent point: at $50K it's a great car! At $90K it's way over-priced, at least in terms of styling. I would never pay $80-90K for a street car that doesn't have exotic/stunning styling. While it may be true that it's too late for Dodge to change the styling, as far as I know the...

    Cigarette lighter dead...possible causes?

Jim, Thanks for the info. I've got to get the manual. I'll check the fuse. This message has been edited by Venom Lover on 04-16-2002 at 07:23 PM

    Cigarette lighter dead...possible causes?

Everything else electrical seems to be working, so I doubt it's a fuse. Which fuse does the lighter map to, by the way? It doesn't say on the fuse box cover, and I have no service manual.... Anyway, any ideas on what the problem could be? P.S., I discovered this when I went to plug in my...

    Classic Viper ?

Oh, one other thing, as a nit, in case you care....production numbers for 2001 were 1751 (click here ), and speculation is that production of '02s will be around 1400, depending on when the CAAP switches over to SRT production (click here ). So, figure somewhere around 3000 '01s and '02s...

    Classic Viper ?

Amen! I agree with everything you say. GenI/II will go down as one of the all-time American classics. This message has been edited by Venom Lover on 04-16-2002 at 08:06 PM

    New Viper Commercial

After it downloaded, I saved the file by right-clicking on the screen area and doing a "save as". Don't know if that will work on your computer or not. Once I did that, I launched the saved file, and under "help" I did About Movie Player to learn that it was Quicktime. Thanks for the advice...

What are the best street tires for hooking up?

Prashant, Amen to what you say about ET streets. And good, I'm glad you mentioned the half shafts! One additional caveat on the ET streets is to get some Unitrax or other after-market half shafts. Chuck, I am currently running Unitrax half shafts (the "regular" duty ones rated up to 700 hp)...

SRT TRAGEDY at LA auto show!!!

quote:
Originally posted by Russ M: Mike, I liked the back of the Lambo, but no way would I pay $250,000 for it. Think that is way to much to pay for any car, unless its an investment. The s7 I have seen before it was nothing new to...

    New Viper Commercial

Brooks, Thanks for taking the time to do that. I got the movie to download, but when I go to play, I see nothing, even though according to the "progress indicator" along the bottom, the movie is playing. I also have no audio. I guess this means I don't have Quicktime, even though the...

SRT TRAGEDY at LA auto show!!!

Dude, we posted within 7 minutes of each other. We must have been standing next to each other there!!! It's eerie, we have exactly the same general opinion about the SRT styling being a step backwards from the present. I had all the same comments on the SRT: doesn't look any better in...

Just got back from the LA Auto Show where I saw the SRT....

I went in with the words that several have said on my mind: "The car looks better in person." I was seriously hoping that would be true, because from what I've seen in the photos to date, I think the styling is a step backwards. Obviously that's my personal opinion.... So, with great...

Testimony to 2 great years with Viper community (long & mushy)

I didn't make a new year's resolution again this year ( ), but if I had, it would've been to praise those who did good things for me as vociferously as I complain about those who didn't. It's always easy to criticize when things go poorly, but we often don't take the time to say thanks when...

What are the best street tires for hooking up?

Hmmm, interesting. I guess Michelin is not in full-scale production of the SRT-10 345's yet. In any case, they are runflats, so the jury is still out on how good they will hook up (at least as far as I'm concerned). Besides which, the 345's will be for 19" rims, so that won't do you any good...
