    Oil leak Help

A/C compressor oil could be clear-ish... is the A/C still functioning? (A hole in the condensor could drain out some oil but the refrigerant would be completely gone.) After 2003 the power steering (and fan) fluid is ATF+4, which is dyed red, typically.

    SRT10 Advice!

For the floor heat, I did as many others have done and added a layer of DynaMat Extreme under the front carpet area. Also added some light-weight aluminized heat reflective material above the primary cats, and covered some of the lower tranny tunnel as well. The car seems fairly normal now...

Take a Viper to a Corvette club event?

This kind of event-crashing works particularly well when you wear your "God created Vipers so Corvette Guys Can Have Heroes" T-shirt. :lmao:

    Vanity Plates cool or not

The paranoid will tell you not to be antagonistic toward other brands on the plate-- since one day some drunken fool with an attitude will be walking by your car and retaliate. Meanwhile, you'll be wondering how a dog pooped on your car... :(

Is SSG worth all the BS?

I think Ryan will decide at VOI... seeing these cars in person is one thing-- they all look great by themselves-- but seeing them side-by-side will generally polarize you to a personal favorite. I love the Snakeskin Green cars, but they are a little too 'in-your-face' for me to be at home in on...

Should stub axle have any play ?!

I would think in normal circumstances the C-clip retaining ring on the splined part of the axle would prevent this kind of movement. An 1/8" isn't much but it may indicate the retaining ring is missing or damaged (or somehow never snapped in place). Might want to call a specialist such as...

    Hole in trunk drip pan?

That's what I was guessing too, but it only would be useful if the nose of the car was pointed downward, since that flat area drains right out the back under the trunk lid when the car is sitting anywhere near level. I imagine someone early on had the car pointed down a steep hill in the rain...

    Hole in trunk drip pan?

I'm actually pretty damn curious as to what these holes are for... anyone have a line into SRT engineering? :dunno:

    Wheel weight residue??

I used Gumout carb/fuel injector spray cleaner. Did take a bit of rubbing, but not bad. This was on clear-finished Sidewinder rims. Starting fluid may also work (slower) and is not as tough on painted surfaces. Tried Goo-Gone and it was not as effective...

    Hood Pad?

All cars are required to meet gov't standards for radiated electrical signals. With a non-metal hood, the Viper is free to radiate electro-magnetic interference from the ignition, electronic fuel injection, ECU wiring, etc. So having a conductive layer in the hood pad helps with that, and the...

How to build a TWIN TURBO COLD SIDE

I'd be in for one of these, too. And Steve is the closest fellow Viper owner to my house! :headbang:

    Viper Car Cover... Which one...?

CoverKing Satin Stretch. Conforms to the car and has a velour-like material on the inside, yet still folds up compactly. Free shipping from AutoAccessoriesGarage.com. Their blurb: "Wrap your garage-kept ride in satin for a smooth, seamless look. The Coverking Satin Stretch Car Cover features...

Gen III or Gen IV - which should I buy?

Unfortunately, the Gen IV didn't fix everything that needed improvement on the Gen III (draggy parking brake, window regulators, semi-poor quality shocks, baseline stereo, etc.), but it does improve a good many details. The new trans and Visco-Lok rear end are certainly worth some of the...

Need some power steering help aaasssaaappp!!!!!!!

Hah, I'm not the only one that had this problem. Phew, misery loves company, and I think I scorched the walls of my garage with some choice words getting that lower fitting started cleanly. In retrospect, I would have taken off the front splash guard and done it from underneath the car...

    Lower shift boot

If you're running the OEM style shift handle with the exposed steel shaft, it will get hot to the touch whether or not the inner boot is in place. Heat eventually transmits from the tranny right up the linkage into the shaft handle. The metal trim ring on the console will benefit from an...

2008 dodge viper rear clunking noise

There are a lot of possibilities for this symptom, but what the heck, I'll give it a go... Loose upper or lower shock mounting bolt, loose sway bar end link, bad shock (check for leaking oil, these OEM shocks commonly blow seals), other loose hardware including not only the suspension but the...

Not sure if it's just me, ac fan speed seems low even on high

You will notice a 3/4" black drain hose which runs across the passenger area above the footwell and exits at the inner fender skirt behind the passenger front tire. This allows condensation to drain from the ventilation system. It might be a good idea to check that drain hose for possible...

Window Regulator -GEN 3/4 Archilles Heel

For those following this thread I just took a quick peek through the opening in the back of the driver's door where it latches to the body jam. With a bright flashlight you can see the white tubing of the window regulator (look high inside the door) and check for visible breakage. On my 2005...

360 Forged Concave 5 all chrome

Watch out for new replacement power steering hose fittings (Mopar Part # 52088914AA) for the first couple hours of driving a car that has had these replaced. There may be a bad batch of new fittings due to an improperly formed retaining ring that allows the hose to blow off. I have seen two of...

Window Regulator -GEN 3/4 Archilles Heel

Wow, lots of good pics, Latamud! Interesting that yours still functioned with so much of the outer tube/sheathing missing. It's just criminal how much these short-lived window mechanisms cost.

    50k maintenance

Roe Racing (online store) has some nice drop-in filters for $86/pair that look very much like a K&N style filter. You keep your stock Gen 3 housing with these filters. I've tried them and would give them a thumbs up all the way.

Need some emergency emergency brake help

Anyone else tried this procedure for disabling the automatic e-brake tensioner? I'm tired of the e-brake dragging all the time on the inner pads. Above instructions are a little sketchy, would like to hear from anyone who has done this!

    DIY halfshaft questions

I just dropped the upper control arm mounts, lower shock mounting bolt, the inner toe link mounts (two), and sway bar end link to swing the knuckle down on one side (I did driver's side). Removed the diff but never removed the half shafts entirely, just zip tied the free ends up out of the way...
