Now that all of the zone rendezvous are completed, how about posting some information on the autocross winners and the planned challenge with SRT?
If I understand correctly, the top two finishers from each rendezvous are to participate in a challenge with SRT sometime in October. Additional...
Not a stupid question...
You are probably thinking of twin screw blowers instead of "roots" blowers. The twin screw blowers are more efficient that the old "roots" type blowers. The twin screw blowers are typically located on top of the engine, between the valve covers, sitting on top of a...
As you have read, a turbocharged car provides a significantly different driving experience than a centrifugally supercharged car. Most of those who have had both will tell you that the turbo will pull significantly harder than a centrifugally supercharged car.
My original post was just a...
DSR207,
The dyno curves proved my point. Significantly more torque at low engine speeds. Look how flat that torque curve is for the turbo car.
And how does a VEC2 change the boost of a supercharger? A VEC2 can only change the fuel and timing settings. You have to change the pulley diameter...
Different people may have different objectives with their cars, but here's a few issues to think about:
Turbo car will typically be much quieter than supercharged car.
Turbo boost level is much easier to adjust to take advantage of high octane fuel or reduce to handle low octane fuel...
I would also like to thank the Woodhouse crew.
They brought in a bellhousing, crank sensor, clutch disc, and pressure plate Saturday morning and had the car repaired shortly after lunch. The repair was so quick that we did not miss any of the weekend events.
The Viper Club is fortunate to have...
2.99 seconds on stock run-flat tires.
You can see the details in the December 2003 issue of MotorTrend magazine. Unfortunately they rounded off the 0-60 time to only one decimal place so the magazine shows 3.0 seconds.
The run was at San Antonio Raceway and the performance data was from a...
Re: Factory SRT Cowl Induction & Bye, Bye ZO6
I'll drop the subject with a quote from the Performance Modifications section by a guy at SRT (user name Dyno Dave) that spends a lot of time with Viper engines in the dyno cell...
You can search for all posts by this user if you think you need a...
Re: Factory SRT Cowl Induction >>> Bye, Bye ZO6
You're partially right. The drop in torque that you stated is only a part of the poor driveability. A multi throttle body system is prone to mis-synch. The synchronization of the multiple throttle bodies can go south as the complicated...
Re: Factory SRT Cowl Induction >>> Bye, Bye ZO6
I doubt that the SRT Carbon Concept intake would allow the SRT to say bye bye to the new Z06.
The SRT Carbon intake is a high rpm race style intake. It will not significantly help the engine in the current rpm range. In fact, it will...
4 out of 5 and that's a generous score.
I find it unusual that so many people rated the car at a 5 out of 5. In my opinion that type of rating means that there is no room for improvement. In my opinion Dodge left plenty of room for improvement.
How about the windows? I typically have to...
Jim,
I personally cannot feel any difference from the stock rear end vs. the Quaife. This is based on mostly street driving but with some road course and autocross time. The Quaife did not seem to reduce wheel hop.
The Quaife visually looked much stronger than the stock piece. The stock piece...
I've had one for about a year now.
I do not know what was meant by the stub axle modifications. I sent the rear end to Taylor and they fit the Quaife into it.
I have not had any problems with it and my car puts out a good bit more power than stock.
2ManyToys - Check that dyno...
It seems unusual that you would only gain another 133 hp (900 to 1033) in the next 3000 rpm (3000 to 6000) with a centrifugal supercharger. Typical installations result in a continuous rise in boost pressure as the engine speed increases.
I'm not trying to...
Had a little better luck with my SRT-10 at the drag strip back in February 2003. Second pass resulted in the following:
60 ft 1.9748
330 ft 5.1748
1/8 mph 94.75
1/8 et 7.7805
1000 ft 9.993
1/4 mph 122.95
1/4 et 11.8657
Bone stock... no modifications what so ever.
I guess you guys win. Drifting is such a waste of a car like a Viper. This drifting stuff is almost as bad as drag racing a Viper. What a waste of time to take a car that was meant to turn and just go in a straight line. Really should leave the drag racing to hopped up Pintos and Mustangs...
Congratulations to Samuel Hubinette for winning the first two Formula Drift events in Marko Radosvljevic's Mopar Performance Dodge Viper Competition Coupe. It was nice to see a Viper whooping up on the typical Japanese drifting cars.
Re: Houston Vipers t.v. appearance Pics!!
I just got back from watching the practice drifting sessions for the Comp Coupe. Amazing sport. This must be seen in person to appreciate the car control these drivers have.
I recommend all the local Houston guys go check it out. 3:00 PM Saturday...
