    My DIY twin turbo build..

I attended a Champ Car race many years back. The support race was a trans-am type series car. The NA V-8 without mufflers was waaaay louder than the turbo Champ Cars; almost a let-down. Andy, I admire the jump in with two feet DIY effort. Best of luck. Warning - when you're done people...

    Thread size on shifter

I have a short shifter mechanism and made a short threaded rod only long enough to attach to shifter, thread into knob, and provide a hex in the middle. You will love being able to downshift by simply closing your fingers...

    Thread size on shifter

On my Gen 1, the thread into the shifter handle and that into the shifter mechanism are different. One is metric, the other end English. 1/2-20 on one end for sure... but not all the way.

    RT/10 Brakes

Of course installing larger rear brakes help a lot. The four piston calipers of any type start off as "too big" and need an adjustable proportioning valve to throttle down the brake line pressure so the rear doesn't lock up. And as you said, it is expensive. The 36mm OEM brakes start off too...

    RT/10 Brakes

It was stated that the Gen 2 booster made it easier to modulate the braking - not feel so much like stepping on a brick.

Paxton Supercharger- "Cold Starts" under 25 degrees F

Actually, I could say "I was there!" Texaco participated in an industry program many, many years ago. Each participant constructed a motored engine dyno in a cold room. Several different engine types were used, and each engine had pressure sensors throughout the block. At various low...

Tom's 40mm rear caliper & question RE prop valve

Actually, the "proportioning valve" is pressure limiting valve. It practice, it limits the pressure to the rear brakes while the front brakes always receive full pressure. Removing the seal allows the rear brakes to also receive full pressure. In action, the "prop valve" does not lower the...

Tom's 40mm rear caliper & question RE prop valve

The piston will screw itself out, but this is only the adjust the "starting position" for the parking brake. If it didn't do this, you wouldn't be able to pull the handle up far enough to engage the parking brake. The hydraulic system will still only push the piston with the same pressure as...

    POP vs Instant On

Except it matches my GPS speed, so I'm more inclined to think it's closer to actual. Unless Boeing calibrates their airplanes to read 50 MPH lower... ;)

Paxton Supercharger- "Cold Starts" under 25 degrees F

An oil meeting SAE 0W can be safely sucked up an oil pump pickup tube (i.e. not suck an air hole through cold oil in a sump) down to -40F (-40C) and the pour point (temperature at which it will run downhill) is -54F.

    POP vs Instant On

FWIW, between Poughkeepsie and Syracuse, and between Poughkeepsie and Potsdam NY, I have had my Charger on cruise at 9.9 MPH over and driven through tens of radar spots over the last three years and never been pulled. Maybe it's the silver Charger or maybe that it's not 10 over.... Sounds...

Tire Age..I know but watch this

After watching the video (which was made for RVs), the "throttle down" advice is merely to maintain speed of the vehicle due to the extra drag from the flat tire. They even say it isn't to accelerate. While maintaining speed, the driver is advised to regain/maintain control of the vehicle and...

Tire Age..I know but watch this

I have to say that the physics of this don't seem appropriate. A brief throttle application in a semi is hardly going to spool up the turbo? The vehicle speed change is minimal, so the centrifugal forces to keep the tire round are same. While the cab may tilt up, the actual load on a tire...

    STOPTECH big brake package

Leslie, did you sell the B#3 fronts? Poop. Tiny calipers.... maybe I need a new name. Chuck 98RT/10 once commented "Tom's Rear" didn't sound appealing. Mighty Mouse! Underdog! GoodThingsComeInSmallPackages!

    University Dodge - Clutch Problem

Mine has failed before and after taking it apart, I think it is heat, age, or abrasives in the fluid; not too much different that a brake seal. How would a dumb ax driver do it?

    the turning circle sucks

My Daimler Charger has this virtual system (so includes 300C, Challenger, etc?) and it seems just as good at feathering the outer tread block as a conventional upper/lower arm system.

    University Dodge - Clutch Problem

Good info. Need lots of rags to prevent the brake fluid from squirting or leaking on paint. The only comment I would add is that the hose connecting master and slave has a quick release fitting which shuts off both ends when disconnected. If this connection "failed" it might be preventing...

A poll in honor of Dave

We haven't had something to wake Dave up in a while, so it must be time for another useless poll about beer, light bulbs, or ex-girlfriends. So here goes... trying to think of the most useless thing to ask... OK! Is your Viper the oldest car, newest car, or a middle car of your fleet? If it...
