    Supercharged Insurance

Although my car is not supercharged, Farmers Insurance dropped my Viper as soon as I declared I had modified the vehicle. Oddly enough, I was happy to learn that Progressive would insure me for the exact same coverage and at a lower rate. Good luck, if you think of ever getting your money back...

    who does this mod?

Hi Marv S. I know tuners were able to reset certain limited functions of the PCM like idle speed in the past. The MoPar "performance" PCM is NOT available anymore as far as I know. Your best bet would be to go the VEC route from Roe Racing I.M.O.

    Idle Hang Revisited

My hanging throttle problem seems to rear it's ugly head during very hot weather and hard running. I run larger aftermarket TB's. etc.

    Door Hinges?

Should be covered by the basic 3/36 warranty. Not sure about extended plans. Sounds like a basic hinge adjustment, but be advised that your hinge is a single hinge unit, and is tricky to set up. Let the pros do it!

    Alternator Pulley

You might try a repair shop that does alternator repair work. The Viper alternator is not that exotic. Perhaps the pulley isn't ether. Then again... I might have to eat those words. Try Jon B @ PartsRack too. He has lots of good used parts.

    1997 Hennessy 650 viper

I have been very happy with my 1997 Venom 650R. 52K miles on it now, and the dependability has been as good as any stock Viper I know. My car # 00-05 dynoed at 577.4 HP and 581 FT LBs Torque. Frankly, any such mods from most tuners have questionable resale value in dollars over a stock unit. The...

Here's how we eliminate idle hang when needed....

Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed.... No doubt mods like a more agressive cam & larger TBs may aggravate the problem. Just curious how many of you stockers have experienced this problem. I suspect quit a few.

Here's how we eliminate idle hang when needed....

Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed.... Dare I suggest the Viper community bring a class action targeting this problem? Complaints could be directed to the N.T.S.B. as a safety related issue. Modified cars might not qualify. After all, they recall cars for sticking cruise...

Here's how we eliminate idle hang when needed....

Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed.... It is my belief that Chrysler/Dodge doesn't give a rip about our "hanging idle" problem or they would have suggested a fix by now. Instead, they just moved on to the new generation motor, expecting us to trade up sooner or later. A typical...

Here's how we eliminate idle hang when needed....

Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed.... Been there. Done most of the above. After 50 to 100 miles the PCM adjusted to the modification and the problem returned. Me thinks these cars have a little of the old Jaguar blood in them. I did find that the throttle plate adjustments were...

When to replace front O2 sensors

Thanks for the replys guys. Larry M, I would presume that "lengthening the harness side" would mean that I could splice the harness? Correct? (Just want to be sure I understand) Thanks. (JD)

When to replace front O2 sensors

My 97 GTS now has over 50,000 miles on the clock. I have two questions: (1)Is there a prescribed mileage to change out O2 sensors with new ones. (2)My front (up stream) sensors have extra long wires (a non stock item supplied by a former engine builder who shall remain nameless). Anyone got a...

    PCM Problems

The most common "lean" fuel problem was actually a intake manifold gasket leak, especially on the 96 & 97s. Could you be a little more spacific? I don't think that many PCM's had problems. Some needed program upgrades for certain problems.

    Gen II Throttle Adjustment Problem

:( UPDATE....After a several hundred miles, the car is back to "jerking" at low speed. I would presume that the PCM learned the new throttle setting, and has compensated for it. BUMMER! I would be interested in how you make out with your fix Janni. Suggestions welcome. Thanks (JD)

Need tech. help, engine breaks up at 5000 to6000 RPM

The revised program 18-32-97 is not the same as the MoPar Performance program. To my knowledge, no revised Performance program exists for the Performance PCM. The dealer does not even have the original Performance program to re-install should you wish. If you reflash the Performance PCM, you...

Need tech. help, engine breaks up at 5000 to6000 RPM

IMPORTANT NOTE!: I neglected to mention that this program (TSB 18-32-97) will efectively replace the Mopar performance program (if you are using a MoPar Performance PCM) with the revised "stock" program. This was no big deal to me as the car ran better with the stock program anyway, even with...

Need tech. help, engine breaks up at 5000 to6000 RPM

I had a similar issue a few years ago with my 97 GTS. I had the PCM "re-flashed" by the dealer. It solved the problem for me. This is done by downloading a factory computer program to your PCM, specifically designed for the problem. The program, TSB 18-32-97, was designed for 96 & 97 Gen II...

    Gen II Throttle Adjustment Problem

    Gen II Throttle Adjustment Problem

To all who have replied, Thank you again. I chose to do as Mike Adams & Gerald mentioned above. The 97 GTS throttle bodies are joined by a common linkage that is actuated by a single throttle cable. On top of the linkage bar next to the passenger side throttle body is a set screw & jamb...
