Yes. At a min they are at least as good as the tires the acr ran with. But most likely improved quite a bit. It's been in every article I've read. Not sure why people keep quoting ps2...
Also, when did it become rocket surgery to make a car fast on track? To make it all things is much harder, but if there goal is to make it as fast as possible on the track that's actually much easier and cheaper than making something best daily driver car and best track car. It will do fine...
Remember what happened to the Gen 3 viper and the Z06 when they both came with run flats? Their performance was magically lower than porsches with less HP, but in the real world when the viper or Z06 owner put cup tires or hoosiers on all of sudden those cars couldn't keep up. The same thing...
running around calif with no front plate...never been pulled over.
when driving back from texas, hit it for a few seconds saw 100. cop on the other side of the freeway crossed the grass median, and chased me down. all i had was a weird paper ohio temp plate. he followed me for a bit, then...
No idea why you would bother to send a beat up test car to a test like this. Makes no sense. It would of made more sense to just tell them you are going to pass.
no, that doesn't make any sense. it's fun to drive fast cars. everyone knows the Gen 5 viper is faster in a straight line than an ACR without running them.
none of these 'tests' ever need to be done. math solves it all before it even starts. sure some driver can **** it up, but we still know the potential.
it has been doing that, true. The specs of the P1 in terms of HP, weight and downforce tell me it won't this time around. And it sure as hell won't 'destroy all.'
Every time there is a dyno posted people try to make absolute judgments on HP vs other dynos..run different days etc. And every time someone says it's a bad idea and every time people continue to do it. I will be the guy this time that says you can't just compare dyno run vs dyno run for...
I never said anything about the owners. I never said any group in particular. I read the thread and was very clear: I was talking to the people complaining.
I don't know how I could be more clear. If you weren't complaining or lamenting how this was a serious problem why would you even think my...
Some of you guys are acting like an alignment issue from the factory is the same as them forgetting to include a steering wheel. My Evo and s2000 both were out of alignment when I bought them. Had them both aligned within a few hundred miles. Done, and with a lot less complaining.
I had an s2000 for five years and the acr now for a couple. They overall shape and feel of the cars are similar. But, it's not like they look like twins or anything, but their shape and some design cues look similar.
The problem is the viper chassis and engine are designed to handle and make 640+HP. Once it is regulated to 500 HP the extra weight in the engine and chassis are problems for it. If you only needed to make 500 HP unrestricted you wouldn't create an 8 liter monster or make the chassis as heavy...
Also you've seen 1/4 mile runs with it. The MT articles showed it pulled as hard or a little harder than a zr1 at Laguna on the straights. You know how much it weighs. Why would you expect it to dyno 600+ at the wheels? Seems pretty obvious to me...
Unless someone does back to back runs on the same dyno with gen 4 and gen 5 and it shows gen 4 as powerful or more then I don't care. That is how dynos are useful. Back to back runs. Comparing different dynos or different days on the same dyno is silly.
Awesome adventure. I've got 18k miles on my 08 acr. These cars are meant to be driven. Picking up a car out of state, or out of many states :) and driving it back is something you never forget. Have fun. Keep the shiny side up and drive!
I get it. I've lived in snowy places before. But, I would submit that snow rated tires or not 335s or bigger are not going to be fun. I would try to come up with something much skinnier in snow rated tire if I was serious about driving on the snow.

It looks like the OP is really...
I drove my 08 acr across 100 miles of Texas during a rain storm so bad I could see out the windshield and had to pull over. It had very worn cup tires at the time. But, just because you can do something doesn't always make it a good idea. :). I have nittos on it for the street now and have no...
