Other than the Viper, what exotic car holds it's value well?

Lively discussion for a thread from 2005 :) I didn't see it in the thread, did Roe ever get another exotic? I think that as far as Viper values are concerned, the G1 and G2 cars have depreciated about as much as they're going to. Heck, you can pick up a very nice used G1 for around $25K these...

    Am I missing something here?

Found it. Where the bumper assembly bolts onto the frame, under the bumper mount and all the shims, the frame is slotted vertically. You can't see it until everything is apart and all the shims are removed. It looks like the whole assemble on that side got shoved all the way down, like the...

Would you install a NOS serpentine belt??

I'd run it. I've got a car with a belt on it at least that old and I think the 44K mile belt on my '97 might be original too. Serpentines are pretty durable belts and they don't generally let go all at once. If it does start to come apart, you should be able to spot it before it fails. Most...

Suggestions for fixing my stanchion cover?

It just occurred to me that these parts are ABS, and the best glue for ABS is...ABS. It melts readily in acetone, and by dissolving ABS chunks in it, you can make an ABS paste that will chemically bond to the panel. If you've got LEGOs around, you've got a ready supply of ABS :)

    Am I missing something here?

I'm working on getting my '97 back into shape. When I got it, the hood was way out of whack. I got my doors set, then set the door-hood gaps. They're not perfect, but are acceptable for now. Now I'm trying to set the hood-fascia gap, and I'm stuck. While the drivers side lines up well, the...

Suggestions for fixing my stanchion cover?

Hadn't thought of that. I've used various Fuzor brand products many times gluing cars back together, I'll have to see if they make anything in a caulk gun sized tube.

Suggestions for fixing my stanchion cover?

I got a new used door shell for my '97 GTS, and I'm swapping my old parts into the new door. Taking my old door apart, I discovered that the screws for the inner stanchion cover were loose. Turns out the "nuts" that are supposed to be molded into the outer stanchion cover are broken off, in...

Are all T56 shifters the same?

I want to upgrade the shifter in my '97 GTS. I can find used GM F-body and Mustang aftermarket T56 shifters relatively cheaply. My question is, aside from the lever(which I can make myself), are all T56 shifters pretty much the same, or do I need a Viper specific shifter? If I need a specific...

Gen1 dash options & pic request

You can wax plasti-dip with a standard quik-wax and it will have much more scuff resistance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQK-8XKMDA8

    Broke rear diff I think

How common is it to shear the ring rear bolts? This is the first I've heard of it, but I'm still pretty new to the Viper scene.

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

I've used Second Skin's Luxery Liner Pro before with good results. It's pretty nice to work with, although it's heavy(It is mass loaded after all :rolaugh: ) Slightly off topic, but on my '73 Vette, I built my own sidepipe mufflers with a pair of THESE in each side. STS makes a similar muffler...

    Suggestions to improve airbox setup

That intake looks awesome! If you can tig weld, or find someone who can, you could make up some stainless pipes with the right bends to go from here to there. Your couplings just need to have enough flex to account for engine movement.

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

Great write up, it's nice to see some actual numbers on how effective it is. Up until recently, I built kit cars for a living and the difference sound dampner makes on a fiberglass body is amazing. Once I talked my boss into trying it, we never looked back. We used Damplifier brand, but they...

Suggestions for a good 3/8" drive torque wrench that is less than $75?

I know it's an older thread, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in. I use cheap torque wrenches frequently. When I get one, I use a socket to connect it to my name brand wrench, set them both to the same setting and pull. Every single one has clicked at almost the same instant as the name...

    Spotted Exhaust Tips + radar

A few years ago, I helped install an Escort Passport radar/laser detector in a customer's '39 Zephyr street rod. It was a nearly completely hidden system, and used LEDs and a speaker to notify the driver when it picked up anything. The only visible parts of the system on the car (other than...

    Blending GTS blue?

Indeed it is. I've thoroughly checked it out, the frame and suspension are straight and most of the damage is cosmetic. The door needs to be replaced, but the sill is workable. The hood hinge is bent on the pass side, and the fiberglass work wasn't done all that well, but as a body guy, I can...

Ha! The stripes are why I bought it(well, not the only reason, but they were a factor :) )

    Blending GTS blue?

Thanks for the info. One more question, is it originally a three stage base-pearl-clear paint, or it standard two stage base-clear?

    Just Plast Dipped the Viper

The best part is that it's easily reversible if you change your mind down the road. Once you get it going, the stuff literally just peels right off :2tu: They also sell it in clear, so you can spray yourself a clear bra to protect against stone chips and whatnot(though it does dry satin).

    Just Plast Dipped the Viper

Painting over it isn't a good idea, it's not very solvent resistant. If you wanted to do some "real" painting, it would be best to peel the dip off. You can however spray more plasti-dip on top of it without issue. As far as color selection, off the shelf it is limited, but they sell all the...

    Blending GTS blue?

I just bought my first Viper, a Blue/White1997 GTS :) It needs a bit of paint repair, enough that I'll have to respray parts of it. I'm a fairly accomplished painter and I'll be doing the work myself. I know metallics and pearls often don't blend well. My question is will the GTS Blue blend...

I just had Atlas Auto Shipping transport my new GTS. They got it from WA to WI in only 3 days for around $900.
