With cars like the Z06 and Ford GT hardtop only, it's always been an advantage that the Viper has been available in topless form continuously since day one. Many of us want the open-air experience in a high performance car, and the Viper fits that bill perfectly.
Re: Worst car reviewer of all time (CR) test Viper as quicker than Z06.
Their own opening comments say much about their perspective:
"The 911 was tested against the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the Dodge Viper and other performance vehicles in a competitive test of LUXURY sports cars."
The...
Again it depends on your perspective. I like performance cars, and currently DC is leading the pack with a complete line of go-fast SRT vehicles.
Comparatively Ford has just the Mustang/Shelby holding the Fort with SVT fading away and no more quicker Focus, Lightning, and the Ford GT's...
I think that they are counting on the fact that many super-rich people have questionable taste. They want somethging that's very unusual and rare, and won't quibble about the higher price.
I am surprised however that they didn't offer these cars with a Paxton supercharger in with the package...
I'd say that the majority of SUVs that I see everyday on the roads are NOT used for heavy towing, or rock climbing, off-road use.
The Jeep SRT-8 is a great balance of hauling capability, and impressive performance.
It's the only Jeep that I'd ever be interested in owning, as I don't ever...
Still, the other side of that coin is that it's a great time for American cars!
From a 500HP Mustang to a 505HP Corvette to the actual building of the Ford GT, and hopefully soon a 625HP+ Viper.
Competition only improves the breed. :2tu:
Re: Viper moving
If DC added those mods to the Viper as factory stock, they would sell like hotcakes, even at $100K+
The Porsche 997S can easily top $100K with just ceramic brakes and cosmetic packages.
The Gen II ACR Vipers were over $90K and sold just fine (in limited numbers)...
The best magazine time for the GT500 is 12.2, with an expert driver (powershifting).
But most other magazine tests have clocked the GT500 between 12.7 and 13.2 in the 1/4 mile. (Stock Gen I Viper numbers)
The Shelby essentially uses an iron block version of the Ford GT engine, and...
I think that the Shelby GT500 is a great effort.
It's a bit heavy overall, and a bit nose heavy from the iron block and supercharger being right over the front wheels.
But it offers nowhere near Viper's performance under normal circumstances. So that means that either the GT500 is a heavy...
The ASC Viper concept is just like the earlier Viper Carbon concept.
If you look at them as actual production cars, their mis-matched patchy looks will definitely put you off.
But these were just styling and engineering projects.
Designed and built to show how carbon fiber body panels...
I have Crower roller rockers installed, and went to install a set of T&Ds last weekend, and the set came with a stand height gage tool that measures the top of the valve stem (when the valve is closed) relative to the rocker shaft.
It's fine if the valve stem is too high (needs shims) or if...
I'm house sitting up in SF for some friends this week.
It's a fun place to be, but a miserable place to drive (and park) any nice car.
My Viper stayed at home. ;)
Several of VW's ads lately are pretty lame.
This is a cheap shot in a 3rd grade humor way.
But I guess that the ad guys feel like they have to shoot for low blows when trying to sell a bland but somehow still awkward design. You had better not have an ego to drive one of the new funky VWs...
I've been running the stock champions with N2O for several years without any problems, but I'm not running nearly that big of a shot, and I'm running rich.
Adding a supercharger or turbcharger is not without the issues that N2O systems face. The key is having a proper setup, not running too big...
I've also used the NX opener for 3+ years and it works just fine.
The convenience of having the power available on-the-fly is something that I really value.
Re: Is 30,000miles high for a \'01?
I remember thinking about whether I wanted to keep the miles down, or drive my Viper. I've got about 27K miles on the car now after about 5 years and I still get a kick whenever I get behind the wheel. I wouldn't give up any of the great experiences of...
The ones in the picture are 5-lug of course, but if they are 6-lug and made to fit the Viper then they should work.
Just keep in mind that most of these type of rotors are not suited for racing, and are more for cosmetics.
The price is about right for these.
Just remember that you need to scuff...
I think that outside of hardcore racers, many people just get used to the Viper's power levels and want more.
The Paxton system looks nice because you have the added power, but can easily pass tighter smog testing and inspections.
The cool part about the twin turbo setups is that combined...
Re: who\'s has used
Maybe it's harder with the SRT-10, but when I installed my lowered coil caps I just used two nylon ratchet straps, one on each side of the coil, and then I jacked the car up and took the wheels off one by one.
As the suspension expanded there was enough room to pull out...
My '00 R/T10 came from Canada and was originally steel gray, until I painted it. But it didn't have the cognac interior. That is definitely a very rare combination.:D
