    Gen 2 engine Vs. Gen 3

    Well IMHO DC whimped out and did no real R&D to improve the Viper engine. The peak HP was raised from 5,200 to 5,600 this is good for 25 or so HP, then the extra 17CI is good for 17HP, then a new intake is say good for 10HP add them up and you get 50 more HP. Whoopty freaken doo... obviously not...

    Help buying a Viper please . . .

    Humm I would say $58K it does have $4K in mods and it is a 99 the extended warranty is only $1,700 which would only increase the value of the car by $1K or so. I could see the owner asking $60K for this car though.

    Y2KGTS has it covered. A couple of other things, if it's going to be your daily commute get a Gen II (GTS or 98+ RT/10) Also it's not how much you make, it's how much disposable income you have. Another question to ask yourself is if you can afford the repair bill should something break? Vipers...

    1997 GTS Good Deal??

    Seems fair, could be lower but not a bad price. If you want a blue/white then you have to get a 96 or 97 but the 98 above sounds like a good deal as well, if you like red. Also the clicking noise if normal if it goes away when the car is in gear.

    Tire preasure

    I've been using 29 all around and my rears are worn in the center more than the sides I'm not sure why. So I lowered the rears to 24 lbs trying to get some more life out of them (near wear marks only 10K miles)

    Brake squeal

    Yes it's normal, the back brakes squeal the most. There are pads you can replace them with to stop the squeaks, I forget the name EBsomethingorother do a search.

    My guess is to add .3 sec and 4 MPH to what a stock ACR does and that's what the Gen III will do. The actual 1/4 numbers will be all over the place, mainly due to the driver.

    I've been thinking of upgrading the brakes and rotors, but I don't know why? Why would you want to upgrade the brakes on a mostly street driven car? Would it actually stop faster/shorter?
