All you need to remove is the lines, compressor, radiator, evaporator, and the heater box in the engine compartment. Vipermed installed my A/C kit, he may have more to add.

They do use the same bulb, but you need to access them from the front of the car.

Yeah, you did it right. The light has an access panel on the rear side with 3 or 4 wing nuts.
