    Dealer Throwout Bearing Alternative?

Tom Think the clutch is LUK I'll be interested to hear what the bearing is like. Have you found a number on the bearing, if so it may be available from a bearing supplier. The workshop manual does say that the bearing is not seviceable and must be replaced with the slave hydraulics

    Castrol syntorq v dexron 3

Thanks guys I got onto Castrol UK tech today. Very helpful lady went to a lot of trouble and got back to me a couple of times. Syntorq is a US only product but is equivalent to Castrol SMX S fully synthetic 75/90 gear oil. I feel very happy about this and have ordered a case of this oil which is...

    Castrol syntorq v dexron 3

Hoping to change my trans fluid soon and I'm curious to know what the difference is. I think syntorq is a 75/80 but what is the actual spec for this oil since I'm having difficulty soucing it in the UK. Could it be the same as Castrol Syntrax. The syntorq is the factory fill for my trans and...

    Auto-X and EBC Greens

Raced a friend on our "private" quarter mile and a bit recently. Braked hard from about 140 to make the turn off and turning area, lined right up straight away and went again in the other direction, this time braked hard from about 150. Result... severe brake fade on my EBC greens. Just made...

    What's up with the Brits!?!?!

Re: What\'s up with the Brits!?!?! I couldn't believe CAR could be such a bunch of blinkered nobs, so I don't buy it any more, far too many tests on Daihatsu Charades and Daewoo Matiz comparisons. Buy instead EVO for a really good insight into performance cars, general enthusiasm and some of...

After market spark plugs dyno test.

Hi Russ I'm back after my day at the shop and here is the information that may be useful to your Denso tech IK16 is the plug listed for the viper, Denso stock no 5303#4 and bar code no 042511053038. IQ16 is stock no 5301#4 and bar code no 042511053014. This info is lifted straight from the...

After market spark plugs dyno test.

Russ In my European Iridium catalogue (the latest), IK16 is listed for the viper and I'm almost certain that IQ16 is available, I'll check later when I get to the shop and come back with info. I would worry that although the colder running 20's would give a good performance on first...

After market spark plugs dyno test.

I'm particularly interested in this since I sell Denso plugs through my shop and have done so for about 12 years. I believe the correct number in Iridium for a standard viper is IK16, which I would like to try in my GTS, but given the price even at wholesale level, I want to be sure they'll be...

Drivers door pops open by itself ???

This is starting to happen in the last few days. I get out close the door and a few seconds later it open again, close it again, and it opens again a few second later. If I lock the doors by using the remote it seem to be ok, likewise once I drive off, the door stays closed. Do I have a short...

    B&M Ripper Info

Interested to get your opinion of the shortened throw shifter. I found that the reduced fore and aft movement was good but the reduced side to side movement made it too easy to slot the wrong gear, usually at the worst times. I'm now back to the standard shifter and feel happier with it.

Hi Ryan Think the speed was around 112, 113mph, don't have the slips to hand, but it was thereabouts.

    UK USA drag racing fun.

It was an excellent day all round, with a really good turnout, and remained dry all of Sunday. Our best time in "Skunk" was a 12.6, which we were fairly pleased with, traction as always being the problem, together with lack of practice at reacting to the tree. Next time we will do better The...

    DOT 5 Brake Fluid

My understanding is that DOT 5 (silicone) is very difficult to bleed effectively and almost always some small pockets of air are left in the system leading to a spongier pedal. When the fluid heats up past the boiling point of water the moisture which is inevitably in the air pockets...

    DOT 5 Brake Fluid

I'm completely with Jon on this, do not use DOT 5, but do use DOT 5.1, they are totally different. However many people mistakenly call DOT 5.1, DOT 5. Check with your dealer, maybe he has made the same mistake and all is OK. DOT 5.1 is an excellent fluid which is well on the way to being a comp...

How to disconnect clutch hose quick release?

Rich We used the old bolts again since they arn't stretch bolts, but knowing they were 'wet',cleaned them and recoated with loctite 'lock and seal' compound. Also used washers under the bolts due to the softness of the aluminium compared with std flywheel. Mike We didn't use an alignment tool...

How to disconnect clutch hose quick release?

Thanks Sean I guess we should have perservered with that quick release, but hopefully now it won't need removed again for a while. Actually the flywheel and clutch were relatively easy with the trans still in place (and hydraulics still connected) but just slid back enough to gain access with...

How to disconnect clutch hose quick release?

Just changed the flywheel for aluminium upgrade ( with new clutch) and managed it without actually having to remove trans. Was able to move trans back about 9" and this was enough to remove flywheel and clutch. However couldn't get trans right out, or move back any further, because we couldn't...
