In 2003, we had an article in our North Texas Viper Club newsletter that describes temporarily using one of the two fan relays to act as a starter relay in an emergency. The article is still available. There are 2 fan relays near the battery jumper post under the hood...
I rode with him at both of these events in his SRT. I agree that he was much more in control with the higher pressure, with a quicker tire temp warm-up to proper operating temperature with good grip. For another datapoint, I also drove my 97 GTS at those tracks (Texas World Speedway and...
Scoobie (and others), the North Texas Viper Club is in your area. We have events all of the time. Check out our website http://www.northtexasviperclub.com and make sure you sign up for our YahooGroup email list http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/northtexasviperclub/ People on our YahooGroup...
Yes, they are 6 piston in the front and 4 piston in the rear. I love the setup. It feels balanced and I don't have a proportioning valve. Pad wear is reasonable. I use about 2 sets of fronts per 1 set of rears. In the 5 years I've had the setup, I've used 3 sets of rotors. The EBC Yellow...
David Tittle (formerly owned Dilusi) did the brackets, rotor hat and kit for the Wilwoods. http://www.davidtittle.com/ I have an older generation of his design. His newer design uses the newer calipers.
Pads I use are:

EBC Green pads for street: DP21148 Front and DP2007...
I have the Wilwood brakes that Dave Tittle designed also. Been on my car for about 5 years. They are fantastic on the track and have never let me down. I prefer running EBC Green pads on the street, then switch to EBC Yellow on the track. I don't have a proportioning valve and it's balanced...
I, and a bunch of fellow instructors, used to use the Nady. They broke all the time. It was a very weak design and couldn't take much of a beating. We all recently switched to the Chatterbox (wired versions) and are very happy. I have a closed face helmet, and mounted earpieces inside the...
I have this one and love it.

It's about $330. I also bought the battery powered fan that clips onto the port on the side. I really helps to push some air through the helmet, keeping you much cooler...
These guys offer DE and Race insurance. I spoke to them a few months ago when they were first starting up the program. Even though the site shows Porsche cars, they will also cover Vipers.

You will be able to drive your car on the infield track at Texas Motor Speedway. You will need a helmet. They will have loaners available if you don't own one. You don't need much else, just make sure your fluids have recently been changed (oil, brake, etc) and tires are properly inflated.
Try this thread for some ideas.

I have the Navman ICN 630 ( http://www.navman.com/land/products/icn630/index.html ) , and love it. I has a great suction cup mount for the windshield that holds it well, and the screen is very bright. I move it between our cars and trucks (and take on trips for the rental car). It comes with...
Laurel has DE insurance. The Porsche DE program they offer can apply to Vipers as well. They also have a racing program.

If you are buying a new helmet, make sure you get one designed for automobiles (SA) and not motorcycle (MA). Some organizations require a SA helmet and won't allow MA helmets. SA and MA are designed differently.
All,
I was looking for supplemental coverage for Driver Education events and Club Racing Events. I found this info below today from Laurel. I put their included PDF files on the North Texas Viper Club website so you guys could see them. They will expand the program for DEs beyond Porsche...
If you really want to go crazy, get something like a Freightliner SportChassis. It has a CAT engine. I've seen some used ones in the $50k range. I drove one and was shocked at how tight it could turn. It turns better than my Excursion. If I remember correctly, they are rated to pull up to...
Re: Who makes an open trailer that really works for viper useing no boards
I've never used one, but I know some other Viper owners use the Sloan's. They have a picture of a Viper on their trailer at their website.

Don't forget to turn off your hood speakers for a few extra horsepower.
