To those who predict skies falling on Viper on account of upcoming Z06

The gen ones were not the poster cars in the 90s it was the gen 2 cars. Mostly the Viper GTS with stripes. Great classic cars tend to bottom out about 15 years after release. The 1996 - 2002 viper is likely the 1965-1967 vet all over.

Guessing the RWHP on Mods for GEN1 1994

You will likely hit 500 RWHP if your heads are ported by a real pro (like Greg Good, striker etc) and you are running a healthy fast acting comp cam. Bob is right about the head gaskets.

Guessing the RWHP on Mods for GEN1 1994

Bone Stock gen one injectors will only support about 450-470 rwhp in my experience.

Gen One and Gen Two Dodge Viper Camshaft Specifications 708 & Stock Gen One

The end result was 491 RWHP at about 5,500 rpm and 551 RWT at about 4200 rpm. 440 RWT at 2000 rpm 530 RWT at 3500 rpm 550 RWT at 4200 rpm 510 RWT at 5000 rpm 470 RWT at 5500 rpm Car has a stock idle with a low melodic rumble and is quiet when in 5th or 6th at highway speeds. Other gear...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

I assume you are aware that DCR is not based on duration at .050 intake closure. Its based on .006 or .000. Makes a big difference.

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

If original engine look and behavior is not important why not just put a blower on the engine and be done with it? Seriously if it isn't blown is sucks anyway.

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Well obviously you can get more power out of the gen 2 intake but at what cost in terms of 600-1500 RPM drivability and idle quality. Your fighting an up hill battle with the long runner intake. More power would be found with a gen 3 retrofit.

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Right if you are going to keep the gen 1/2 intake then the rest of the parts have got to peak in the same RPM band and focus on lifting the entire opperational RPM band which does not extend beyond about 5700 RPM or so. These intakes are good for ABOUT 550 RWT and 500 RWPH without much trouble...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Eric what is your exact formula for calculating DCR, as it may be possible that I am using a different formula. ----------- Answer: There are many online calculators for this and they all read the same assuming you select the same atmospheric pressure. Not2fast has a good one. I am lazy and...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Dan have you found that gen 3 intake maifolds with short runners can carry higher cranking cylinder pressure than gen 1/gen 2 intakes can? I would expect a short runner intake to carry higher cranking pressure than the long runner design on the older motor. Actual cyclinder pressure is...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Right 190 is reasonable but thats not 8.8 DCR. I have no doubt that if you have a 190 CCP you are fine. I am at 189 and have no problem at all so we are in agreement.

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

I am assuming full timing advance with a factory 195 F thermostat and 12.8-13.0 to one air fuel. I have the aggressive alternate factory tune for the gen one that had full timing. Its very hard NA to pull much more than 1.3 Foot pounds per cubic inch without problems on older head designs I...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

" I'm looking for the Dynamic Compression Ratio" Answer: My dynamic cylinder pressure is 7.6 at 0 Ft elevation. "I was interested in getting Dynomation 5" Answer: I used an older version of this and it was very helpful. "a DCR of 8.5:1 is the seemingly arbitrary limit for pump gas NA engines...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

I have a long thread on this intake valve closure and cranking cylinder pressure issue. http://forums.viperclub.org/threads/669822-Gen-4-amp-5-Performance-Well-Hidden-Greg-Good-Heads-Dyno-708-Cam-Stock-Improvement. The answer is 190 psig cranking cyclinder pressure is the wall right before...

Best cam for road racing a Gen 2?????

ASSUMING you have a stock gen 2 intake manifold that wants to go out of resonance at about 5750 RPM like everyone else's and given your compression ratio does not exceed 10.2 to one. If I had a gen two motor and wanted to mimic and replace the 708 but with more rotational force everywhere I...

    gen 1 oil pressure

My 1996RT/10 runs about 18 psig hot with 0W40 oil at idle in the summer. It runs about 25 psig at idle hot in the summer with 20W50 synthetic racing oil. My car does not like the thin mess even in the winter. It makes less valve noise with thicker oils in all service conditions.
