Took me a while to find it - I may have gotten a bit distracted by the S7 video :D. It was an awesome video though. Added that to my favorites. Thanks for the post.

You must click on the "Torque TV" section under the "Channels" section. It's the second or third video on the left side of the screen...

For all of you having viewing issues, you need to install the microsoft silverlight program and then reload your browser.

Funny you mentioned that. I've been delaying that "upgrade" for a few weeks. I HATE software upgrades when everything works fine.

Guess it's now necessary. ;) Thanks.

'09 Corvette has 638 horses, reaches 205 mph
The $100,000 ZR1 sports 6.2-liter V-8 engine and will hit dealerships this summer.
Scott Burgess / The Detroit News
The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's supercharged V-8 officially produces 638-horsepower, General Motors Corp. executives announced today. GM completed SAE certification of the ZR1's 6.2-liter LS9 engine and released the results at midnight.

The final tally: 638 horses and 604-pound-feet torque and blistering top speed of 205 mph.

The ZR1 will be built at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky, home to the regular Corvette and Z06.

The LS9 engine will be hand built at GM's Performance Build Center in Wixom.

With a 0-60 time besting the Corvette Z06's 3.7 seconds, the ZR1 enters supercar territory with its power and quickness.

Final numbers have not been released.

The engine's power comes from the four-lobe Roots-type supercharger, the first production application of it.

This premium 'Vette should cost around $100,000 and includes a carbon fiber hood, fenders and parts of the roof -- helping the supercar lose some of its weight.

GM plans to sell 2,000 ZR1s each year after they arrive in dealerships this summer.

Same here. I got better things to do than figure this out. The Gen 4 Viper kills the Z06..we have been knowing that since last fall. Its easier for a guy w/ dreadlocks to pick up a Repubican blonde on a golf course than to see this video...:blah:

On to more fun and easier tasks!

Yeah, only seems to have the intro set up for the show. Looks interesting though. Notice their pro driver is wearing Mopar suit. lol

Worked for me only when I accessed the Viper video through the menu and not through the link.

Good video!

In a few weeks I will provide a review as '08 arrives in a week or so and I just sold a '06 Z06 with headers, intake and tune.

Much closer than I expected, the ZR-1/ACR test will be the one I'm interested in though.

Not bad. Hilarious that the chosen driver is wearing a Mopar suit and is Hubinette of Viper/Mopar drift fame if Im not mistaken. The Vette guys got to feel a little bias was involved Im sure lol. Still Im surprised the Z06 kept that close. Seems to still be a drivers race as the gap is similar to 03-06 Vipers and 06-07 Z06's in the 1/4 and roadcourse. Thanks for sharing.

FYI,

Samuel Hubinette was the driver of both cars - a very good driver.

One of our best local drivers, Terry Rossi, regularly drives his stock Gen III with street tires to a 1:28 at this track, so there was some room for improvement. Sam had a passenger and was talking with a camera in his face while doing the hot laps, so not ideal conditions in either car.

They ran the drag portion of the event 4 times and the result was always the same, the Viper pulled away by two + cars lengths every time and was continuing to pull away at top end.

Try this link: Torque.TV

Click on current channel, then click on the icon, Head 2 Head with the Viper and Vette pictured.

You will need to load the silverlight program on the screen if you haven't already.

Another Head 2 Head program is coming comparing the GTS with the Daytona Coupe from Superformance.
