I am going to order a set of HRE wheels for the Viper and have been struggling with the decision of whether to order 20 inch all the way around or go with 20 inch rear and 19 inch front. Clearance in the wheel well doesnt seem to be an issue so it is a matter of tire diameter and sidewall height. I came up with this info and hope it might help someone else. It really surprised me to find out that by going to the larger wheels it actually decreased my overall tire diameter. By the way Pirelli only makes (1) size tire for the 20 inch wheel.

Tire size______________________Diameter__________Tire sidewall

345/30/19(stock rear)____________27.149_____________4.074
345/25/20_____________________26.791_____________3.396

275/35/18(stock front)___________25.579_____________3.789
275/30/19_____________________25.496_____________3.248

I went 20's all the way around. I am getting my HRE wheels chromed so I am on a waiting list for about 6 weeks. The 25 series tires look awesome (thos are in my garage now) but it looks like if I run over a bottle cap, I will dent my rim. DOH!

This is my honest opinion, and I could be wrong, for I've never seen an SRT with 20's on it.

I don't think a 20 inch wheel would look good in the front of the car, as it would intefere with the appearance of the sloping body profile, and look out of place, and how about the idea of the rear having an overall smaller tire diameter. Aren't we supossed to try and fill the rear wheel well a bit more?

The big wheel look on the front is just got to be out of place.

There are about a half dozen drawbacks to the bony looking 25 series tire that I can think of, and few good points.

The tire to wheel, to wheel well, in the rear are just not in balance in my opinion.

The only good thing about this is the great veiw of the wheels them self, they are a sharp set of wheels. I don't think they should stand out the way they will. Overshadowing the car, not to mention a great imbalance.

As I said, I've never seen them on an SRT in this size. I did see a GTS at Bobby Archers that had just put on a set of 20's and It really had a big wheel look to it, terrible I thought.

Superbar I really don't mean to offend you in your choice of wheel and tire size, I really think it's not a good setup on this car. The skinny little undersized tire, and believe me it will look like that on the back, is reason enough, not to mention traction, ride, possible wheel damage, etc. Again I could be wrong about the look, but I see more wheel upgrades that look out of place than I see that blend in with rest of the car, truck , suv.

Go see an SRT in person before you do this. I would like to myself, it won't be the first time I've been wrong

The Startech wheel is indeed a very sharp wheel, and there brochure shows the SRT to have 20's in the rear and 19's in the front. The design and finish on that wheel doe's allow for a very balanced look, except for the tire wheel ratio, and tire to fender whell ratio. I'd still go with the 19 rear and 18 front. The tire size factor, etc. The HRE's are a bit bold for 20"

Brad your white car may really look great with some aftermarket wheels on it, hard to say what would go with it.

After looking at Dean's car with 20's on the rear, I was sold. Also, Greg's car has 20's and is the same color as mine and it looks sick (Good!) I haven't seen an SRT-10 with 20's in the front, so i guess I will be the 1st to post pics of what this looks like when my wheels come in.

Skip, no offense taken. I do realize i will have to be careful of where I drive this since the 25 series tire leaves little protection when running over objects.

I think I am going to go with 20 inch for the rear and 19 inch for the front.
A couple reasons that influenced my decision were (1) I think the 20 inch tire will fill the front wheel well just a little to much. The tire I would have to go with would be a 285/30/20 and that would have a 26.372 dia. compared to a 25.496 dia. for the 275/30/19 tire. (2) I intend on lowering the car about an inch. After spending considerable time looking at and riding in Deans car, I think he got it just right.
One other byproduct of going with the 20 inch rear tire is that my tire diameter goes down, which changes my rear gear ratio from 3.55 to about 3.61.....LOL :D

Brian, what style HRE are you going with. I've been toying with 545's as having a menicing look, and make a set Eradaspeed rotors look great, to the 547's that just look good. I find the 546's look to busy looking. I have a series of pic's of all these wheels on the cars, and I'm going see what others think. Sometimes that can make us look twice at something. I'm not going with the chrome, as it takes to long to get them, and they usually only chrome the center of the wheel.

ps, Brian, good desision on the one inch difference.

Skip, the choice for me was clear 547R.................until I looked at Deans car again............now I am not so sure. I will be making a final decision next week, so I will let you know. I dont think I can go wrong either way. I also wanted chrome, but waiting the extra time is out of the question. I am going to get the barrels polished. I wonder if anyone could photoshop both styles of wheels on a black SRT10......anyone?

Yes they do have a bit of a big foot look to them, but I have to drop the back end down half an inch or so to rebalance it, as the car is hiked up now due to the larger rolling diameter. This will help the look more than you would think. I Think the traction will be great, that was only one wheel and tire mounted on there to see what it looked like. I would have liked a 19 wheel with a 28.2 drag radial, but there's no such thing, so I had to go 18 at least the 28.2 tall tire has a wheel well filling effect, versus the 27.1 Pilot. Now that's a plus. It I went to the next size down in the way of a drag radial, I would have to get a 26 inch tire, and that may have a better tire to wheel sidewall look that many like, but that would look very small in the wheel well, don't ya think?
