Explaining Viper things to you
Like the title says, anyone know if the A/C & Heat Control Panel from a '96 car will fit an '01?

They have 2 different part numbers - 4642 493 and 5245 298 respectively, but that may not mean a thing.

First person with the correct answer will get a coupon for free unlimited Texas BBQ & Beer, delivery not included.

I'm going to take a shot at this....

It's likely that there IS a difference as I believe R-12 was outlawed between that stretch of model years. The new HFC-134a requires different gaskets, etc?

Anyone from SRT out there? or maybe Jonb?

The control panel has nothing to do with the type of refrigerant. I belive he is talking about the part in the dash if I read it correctly.

I can't see how they different refrigerant would have anything to do with that. If memory serves me, (and that seems to get more questionable every day) the controls are just vacuum and electrical.

I'd bet the difference is cosmetic.

A bit off topic....but of the 4 cars I have...3 used the same controls. The 2000 GTS, 2003 Cobra, 2005 Excursion. IF they're not the same....they sure look the same.
