97 GTS wants to almost stall when at high RPM then taken out of gear

Hello, I called Tator a week ago and I am looking for your insight as well.

My 97 GTS wants to almost stall when I am driving and when I take her out of gear to rest at a light. It seems like the alternator is going but Tator said that is very very rare to have a bad alternator on one of these cars. He advised me to get the injectors cleaned. I also thought at one point that I smelled more fuel than before meaning it was running rich. Please let me know your thoughts. I will get the alternator checked before I do anything. Thanks.

I would remove the Idle Air Controller and clean it to see if it helps your issue.

IAC is a good place to start. Also, did you recently change the battery, remove it, or did the battery die recently? If you answer Yes to any of those scenarios, your PCM is relearning. It should clear up in a few cycles.
