Is A/C shutting off on hard acceleration normal? I never notice it before but today that 90 degrees outside I notice that everytime I hit the throttle hard to pass cars the a/c shut off and when pedal is release everything is back to normal. I tried to search the thread but it keep saying no match. Anyone have same issue? Please tell me this is not normal. Thanks for any input. Easy...

Normal, sort of. A lot of people have the problem. Something that is suppose to happen, NO. Here's a link to a thread explaining the problem and how to fix it.

If that doesn't work do a search for "AC Shuts off when on the gas pedel" Or do a search on my username, I posted a couple of questions under that thread.

Thanks DarcShadow. What part number you end up using? Which brand?

it is supposed to cut off under WOT(wide open throttle) position the car figures(ecu) that at wot power/acceleration is what you really want and temporarly shuts down the ac compressor. i dont know if the procedure in the above mentioned thread is circumventing of the the wot cutoff, i do know that on the cars i own(ed) have all worked consistently with the cut off, and i even run it at road course stuff for that reason(that and it kinda helps keep you cooler).

The problem (and fix that we are talking about) have to do with the A/C vents closing (lost of forced air) at WOT due to lack of vacuum.

The A/C clutch will still dis-engage at WOT but that has no impact on being able to have the vents blowing cold air at WOT since WOT only last for a few seconds at best and there is plenty od "cold reserve" in the A/C system to still blow cold air for at least 1 minute even with the A/C clutch dis-engaged.

I don't know the part number. Just asked the Dodge dealer for a vacum check valve. Should be about $5.
