Adjusted my headlights, WOW, what a difference

I had searched and never relayy found anything on headlight adjusting, maybe Im an idiot and didnt find anything. Anyways, last night I adjusted them and I can see. I was never happy with lighting and then when I lowered car with Motons it got even worse. The headlights seem to only aimout about 15 ft ahead.

I had heard you had to go thru the inner fender wheel which is a pain, so I never did it. Well since we were doing a Paxton install ,I had alot of stuff off already, so I removed rest of liner. I could see adjuster knob and noticed it looked lke it was pointed towards engine bay. Sure enough there is a little rubber plug under hood on both sides of fenders towards the headlights. So I popped hood, used my fingernail to remove rubber plug and adjusted headlights with a 7mm socket. I cant beleive I never pulled that plug before just to see what it was.

I first set them up pretty high, I had a box I put about 3 feet in fron of car and made a mark, I then moved headlights up about 2" from my mark. Went for a drive and I was lighting up better then when brights are on. I figured it was a little too high, lol, so I dropped them back down about a inch. Overall, it is a huge improvement. I can see again. And with the addition of the new HID fog light kit, I definately light up the road. Im very happy. So , just in case anyone else was clueless like me, heres a little info. Sorry didnt have time to take a pic, but its very easy to find the plug underhood.

Cool, Im not the only one. I had even heard only the dealer could do it. Well at least we all know now, its only a 2 minute job.

I had the tech at the local dodge dealer do mine and he showed me how to adjust them myself. He got them a bit high and cars coming the other direction kept flashing me, so I lowered them just a bit and now all is well.

So does this just allow up and down adjustment? or side to side?

I assume its just up and down, which turn of the adjuster makes the lights point up?

It only does up and down. Just slide a 7 mm socket in there and turn, I put a tall piece of cardboard about 3 feet in front of car, marked the top of the light beam and then just moved up from there. It actually doesnt take much, but what a difference. I cant remeber what direction to turn, but once you mark the cardboard, just turn socket, you'll see the beam start moving up or down, you'll figure out which is up or down.

I guess they figure, side to side adjustments would not really be needed unless the car was hit or something.

Oh thank goodness I found this thread. I was about to pull off the fender liner! I just picked up my first Viper last week and tonight my girlfriend was like "why are your lights so dim and yellow looking?"

I had a vette before and she said the vettes were much better. As soon as she said that I came into the house, got on the computer and started searching on how to adjust the headlights. Everyone said to take the liner off.. thanks to this thread I didn't even finish my steak, and went straight to the garage to adjust my lights. Haha thanks!

I'm also trying to adjust my headlights after lowering my '05 Viper. The passenger side is at the height I want, but the drivers side headlight seems to be maxed out after only a small adjustment. I continued to loosen the adjustment bolt, but the headlight beam has not risen any further.

Any ideas what may be the issue?
