I'm just curious if anyone else doesn't get to drive their vipers too often. I've owned my current viper for about 2 years and I'm having a hard time finding enough time to drive my car. I work a full time and a part time job and literally have to make time to drive it. I don't want to drive the car to work as I don't want someone messing with it even though we have our own lot, and don't drive it when I go to walmart or places like that. It ***** having such an awesome car and it just sits in the garage. Anyone else have this "problem"? Even though I get to put about 1000 miles on the car a year now, I love my car and I know if I sold it I would regret it in an instant so that's not gonna happen. It just ***** having $50,000 car sitting in the garage. Sorry for the rant I'm just curious if any other people are in the same situation.

amen. thats why i sold mine recently, no time for it.
Yeah it def *****. It's just tuff because I'm looking at houses and 50 grand would be a nice down payment. Only thing I'm worried about is if I did sell it I might not be able to afford another one in the future once marriage and kids come along. Damn I wish I could hit the lotta hah.

Will not hurt your car to drive it to work, or even to Wal-Mart.

It does it more good to be taken out once in a while, as opposed to sitting in the garage.

Maybe you are just finding more reasons to not drive it than to drive it.

I have a hard time not driving mine...

I live in walking distance of literally everything I need, yet I've driven it 7000 miles since getting it 5 months ago

Actually sometimes I get mad at myself for driving - if I end up stuck in traffic or rain - because it feels like it was a waste.

Agreed. I used to always keep my car locked up, and I wouldn't take it anywhere unless it was a perfect day and I was going to the perfect place, etc etc etc. Finally, I just decided to let go of those worries. That's what I'm paying insurance for. All the things I imagined would happen have not happened. I enjoy my car so much more now. :)

In my case and (I think) Plums, there is some time if you really try to make it but after a while you just get bored.
No matter how fast, how cool or how in love you are (were) with the car it just gets old after a while.
I only really drive my car on Sundays but even that gets tiresome in the same car.

You know what you need to get Phil. Ask Flash.
Stop monkeying around.

I agree with the somewhat. Some days, just not in the mood. But then, after it sits for a couple weeks, it's like Im in a new car all over again! I don't drive mine to work either, but not because of security. It would just raise too many questions and comments.

And another point.
IMO you have to keep it special. For me, daily driving the car in traffic would just kill my urge to hop into it on the weekend.
When you use it once or twice a week, it tends to make it a lot more exciting.

Exactly. Just drive it and enjoy the feeling. Don't worry about something happening to it. Like Slayer said - that's what insurance is for. Get out there and make more memories. :drive:

Mine just kinda sits in the garage covered. Used to drive my first one all the time, but kinda lost interest lately.2004 with only 3900 miles. I used to average about 7k a summer. Last 3 years ive only driven about 1k. Ever since i stopped tracking cars, ive been bored. Not sure which way im gonna go, and the economy ***** right now. I would love a ACR, but that aint gonna happen for a long time.....

Yep. Just treat it like any other car and take it out.....you'd be surprised how versatile it is when you commit to driving it.

It is just a car. Drive it to work at least 1 day per week. Quit saving those miles for the next owner to enjoy, go DRIVE it. You never want to be that guy that looks back when you are old and don't have a car like this, wishing you would have driven it more. You'd rather be the old guy that has vivid memories of driving the hell out of the car, and enjoying it.

Passions fade over time.
But it depends on your personality.
I was always the kid who the day AFTER Xmas said "that's it?" ...:)

Wow, ViperJon, you basically described why I sold mine. I guess I am not the only one that happen to... I'm pretty happy with my Challenger SRT-8 right now. I'm gonna keep myself interested by continually modding it. My first mod was the 'Cuda conversion; next comes a lowering kit and some suspension upgrades; then a supercharger & exhaust; then the interior is getting a complete overhaul. I may then try to replicate an AAR 'Cuda from the past... And on and on and on.

To me it was hard (and expensive) to mod the Viper. I say "hard" because I really did not want to mess it up. I feel free to do anything to the Challenger because there are so many and I want to make it my own creation. I need that to keep my interest. Best of luck, Wes. I miss talking to you guys, but I will stick my head in every once in a while.

Unfortunately yes, life gets in the way. I get the vette out for about 2000 miles a year and the Viper gets about 500 a year mostly because it is on the side of the garage where I have to move stuff to get it out. I just swapped them in an effort to drive the Viper more.

This is exactly what I was thinking Paul! Some of the things you're worrying about (when you Could be driving it) are just that, worrying for Nothing (cause its not gonna do you any good to worry about it, if its gonna happen its gonna happen). Sounds like you have the time to drive it, you're just looking for excuses NOT to drive it! How many times on here have you heard somebody say they took their car to work today & it got keyed (& you even have your OWN lot) same thing as wal-mart (you don't have your own lot but they do have security guards) if I drive mine to wal-mart I usually park around back at the service dept (not many cars & the mechanics see everything that goes on)! jmo

Yes, but for a number of reasons,

1/ The car only has two seats......That does not sit well with the family ;)
2/ Then work sometimes gets in the way :(
3/ Car is currently broken at the moment with Diff / Half Shaft damage :sadpace:

i drive mine to work 3 or 4 days a week usually, granted work is only 6 miles but i'll still rock it. i enjoy the conversations the car starts and no matter how much i drive it around this area, there is always someone who hasn't seen one in YEARS and loves to talk about it. get out, have fun, and enjoy life while you can.

I've had a lot of people ask me why i don't drive mine all the time, and i tell them thats not why i bought it. Its not my DD. I've owned it 2 years now and put 3K on it the first year and 2K this year. The weather here *****, so thats another reason. And work has been supper busy. Thats a good thing, but i don't like driving it there as well. We've had some shady people causing problems in our parking lots. I know, "that's what's Ins is for" but i don't want to risk it.
It really does feel like it is hard finding time to drive it sometimes. Cause taking it out on a rainy day doesn't sound like fun to me.
