could be-wire or connection condition---open fused ignition switch output circuit--open skipshift solinoid control circuit--fused ignition switch output circuit shorted to ground--skipshift solinoid control circuit short to ground--skipshift solinoid resistance out of range---

I have purchased 6 of them over the years and had 2 of them go bad. It seemed to happen after getting them wet while driving in rain. I contacted the vendor and they replaced both of them with no issues.:usa:

If they soldered the resistor, the solder joint could have cracked due to poor workmanship and/or vibration. Also, with enough vibration, a resistor could crack in half; but, that seems like a low probability.

No I don't have the $5 ebay one, I bought the $50 support your VCA vendors one. Now I'm throwing code P1719. Ever seen one stop working :dunno:

The answer to your question is: YES. Before I had my computer reprogrammed to, among other things, eliminate the skip shift, I had two skip shift eliminators go bad. If you take the SSE apart you will see why they go bad. Not much there. With your skill set, I bet you can make a better one yourself.

Does the CEL come on too? Seems like whenever I "check" for codes, the P1719 is always there, (no CEL). Just wonderin' if mine has gone bad now :dunno:

I have an SCT tunner and it came with the skipshift as well as fan on 12 degrees sooner and other tunes if you're interested in something like that.

Hi! The skip shift is a resistor (25 ohm) If your car is throwing P1719codes it's most propably the soldering or the resistor it self that's gone bad. You can easily replace it your self. I've had one where the connector pins were bad and one where the soldering had come loose.

Good luck. Brgds Rickman

Did you spill your beer on it Dave? Resistors don't have much resistance to alcohol........

Mine went bad too. I took it out of the car a few weeks ago, and took it apart just now. The wires just pulled right out of the resistor housing, not even connected to the resistor. It wouldn't be hard to solder it back together, though.

I actually came on the forum today to see if there were any deals on SCT Tuners. I was thinking about getting the skip shift eliminator but liked tuning it off from when I had my Z06. How much are you selling it for and what kind of tunes do you have on there. I have a 99GTS that I plan to do a big N20 setup on.

Explaining Viper things to you
Yes...

The P1719 is giving me a CEL on the dash.

I have the skill to dissect and repair the thing.

I'm aware I should drive like Plum but I'm in ticket management mode a little longer

I can still skip ladies. :D

No...

That area of the car does not usually get wet. Although there has been an isolated case here and there when the Weather Channel was more correct than Dave. :rolaugh:
