Their are defiently some great contenders out their but my vote would be for the Dodge Viper for these reasons....

-In 2000 a stock off the showroom floor Viper was capable of running 11.9 at 121 mph....( I dont know of any other regular production cars that could do that back in 2000)

-In 2003 Dodge launched the SRT10 Viper. They made the car a lil faster at 11.7 at 123 mph when their wasnt even anything threatening the previous vipers 11.9 at 121 mph

-The 2003 SRT10 Viper proved to have world class brakes and handling to match the power..easily defeating 911TT's and C5z06's around differant tracks in all the major publications

-By 2004 it was pretty evidant that if you owned a GTS/RT10 or a SRT10...these cars were capable of makeing more rwhp with Twin turbos than any other car on the market..While people were getting excited about 1000 rwhp Supras...The Vipers were routinely above the 1300 rwhp range

-By 2007 the viper had shown that not only could it put down the biggest numbers on the dyno..But it could also back it up on the street..Going back and fourth as the fastest 6 speed street car in the world, as well as haveing very impressive runs in the mile events

-In 2008 Dodge launched the newest 600 hp srt10 that ran 11.1 at 130 mph...Easily running away from 911TT's..C6Z06's...GTR's and anything else...But not only was this car fast in a straight line..Again dodge improved the handling and breakinh and the Viper went on to be the fastest regular production car at the ring in the world

-In 2010 dodge again made slight revisions to the viper when none seemed needed at all. Resulting in the Viper being faster than any production car in the world at laguana secca...Just for iceing on the cake dodge unveiled that they will be buildig a non street legal Viper with less weight and more power....

As if being one of the fastest drag strip cars...One of the highest dynoing cars.....One of the fastest one mile cars....One of the fastest lapping cars...Simply wasnt enough for a street car..they had to build a off road version that could do it all even better...

Viper gets my vote for car of the decade:2tu:

I gotta go with the Ferrari 360 and its ensuing itinerations, for reasons far too many to list here...however price isn't one of them :)

The Viper gets my vote. For a production sports car under 100 grand, nothing can keep up. Nothing... Including the GT3RS and any Ferrari of your choice.

I had fogotten about the 360....Theve dodne quite a bit as well..Just no rwhp or 1/4 mile or 1 mile numbers to really loast about...

Years ago I chased a challange stardale for 15 laps around a 40 second road course in my h/c C5...Best memory i have

Viper all the way!

Porsches look like an old E type Jag and really dated. Ferraris look like Ferraris. Some supercars are too exotic looking so that they look like abstract art and should hang on some Sultan's living room wall. They llok like someone's idea of a "Jetson mobile". $1 per mile for tune-ups on a car that barely gets 13mpg "shouldn't be allowed to drive in parks" a German Tourist told me (eco terrorist/Greenie).

My second choice (if I couldn't have a Viper) would be a DB9

Vipers own everything, except the top speed record. I may test the Texas mile, but anything over 200mph seems completely pointless.

The Viper is even above the iconic Shelby AC Cobra and Daytona Coupe as a milestone of engineering excellence and North American engineering superiority. I think Herb Helbig should become president of the World and fix the economy!

I find it difficult to say that a Porsche 911 rs977 whatever that stuff means...? Or a Ferrari 599 306 Scuderia or whatever they are? Only Errari I recognize would be an Enzo.

If a car can be considered one of the best then it should also be one that is good enough that it is known the world over. It should be known as a superformance car by 7 year olds, like a Viper is. There should be more than a thousand built each year.

Transmissions were invented and improved for each generation of the Viper and then modified and used by vettes and Mustangs etc. Tires were invented specifically for the Viper and then allowed (?) on the ZR1.
