My 06 Coupe with 7200 miles started making a single clunk noise upon light acceleration from stop. From past car experience I would guess it to be a U-joint, but during this weeks PA State Inspection, neither the tech or I could find any cause when it was on the lift. I am about to change rear fluid since it makes noises under tight turns. Anything else to look for?

A certain among of rear end drive train noise is characteristic of this diff/axels....normally it is present at parade (very low) low speeds while shifting. Trying putting it into reverse and determine upon acceleration if it is still there.....

Has there been any mods or work done on the car? Checking to see if something was worked on and may not be right is all. There is some drive lash noise in all Vipers it may just be that, do you hear it again at all when you let off the throttle?

Could be a loose diff mount, control arm mount, or even a exhaust hitting issue from soft motor mounts at 7K.

Don't wish to high jack thread but SOFT MOTOR MOUNTS at 7K ?

I have just over 5K on my '06. IS this normal ? or is this an issue ? IF an issue what is the preffered fix ?

Additionally, I have experienced a clunking that I have attributed to a NOT fully engaged gear when starting out after backing up.

Softening mounts are not an "issue" but just part of the rubbers life cycle. As they see heat they start to wear out of course. We have sold 400 plus sets of the Woodhouse mounts and they are a true improvement.

Dealer just replaced the rear end in my 5k mi. '08 for a clunk in the rear on tight radius slow turns. Had it in to another dealer twice for this and they could not find anything loose.

Good luck with your situation!
