For what it's worth, in 2000-2002, the ACR was equipped with a 10 quart oil pan. None of the other GTS or RT/10 models got it. I wonder why this is such a common mistake?

That is not correct. My 02 GTS has 10 quart capacity. I do not recall which year went from 8 to 10, but this is not exclusive to the ACR.

That's interesting. If you look at this page:

http://ivr.viperclub.org/features.php

It seems to indicate that only the ACR got the bigger pan in 2000. Wonder who maintains that information?

The way the page was designed it lists changes year to year.... need to add the ACR suspention change, but the pan stayed the same in 2001 and 2002 as it was in 2000, so it was not mentioned in the 2001 and 2002 ACR specs.

One of the many changes to the Gen II engine was the reduced oil sump capacity... part of the weight reduction diet the Gen II engine was put on.

Hi Jay. The question is, did the 10 Qt pan come on the GTS as well, or just the ACR as that page indicates. Some in this thread are arguing that it did, in which case it could be listed as a change for both models.

It's not arguing, all Vipers, starting in 2000 had the 10qts pan.

Right...Arguing was the wrong word...clarifying is better. I'm sure Mr. Wizard is the source to trust.

I tried so hard not to smoke the tires. But the car just does not do what I tell it to. Hope you enjoyed the show.

I had a pretty good run with Mark but had me 6 inches. If I didn't have the wife in the car I could have took him.

Thanks for inviting me out today. You all are good people and I'm looking forward to the next time we get together. I'm hooked!

I still have allot of work to do before challenging ED. Man his car is strong.

True, no damage to this motor. I am running the oil level 1/2 qt low. It's working great.

KenH:

On Gen 2's there is also a tee that goes to the underside of the intake that attachs to the top side of the block, under deacceleration the high vacuum ***** the oil cloud directly into the intake. This in addition to the valve cover eqress into the air box. This can also be plugged easily.

If you look at the dynamics, braking is not the only issue, even worse is a high G sweeper to the right, this will push the oil into the airbox. Anything like aftermarket rockers that increases the oil flow to the upper engine will make this condition worse.
