I lined up against a Z06 twice last night at the local dragstrip. The track is not the greatest and I hear they don't even use any VHT. It was only my second time drag racing anything and it was the guy in the Z06's first time out with it at the dragstrip. I will try to post the timeslips, but here were the results. First race: me in Viper GTS 2.07 60' time, 12.622 ET @ 115.9; Z06 2.113 60', 13.092 ET @ 100.48. Second race: me 2.123 60', 12.704 ET @ 115.98; guy in Vette Z06 2.114 60', 13.108 ET @ 99.58. I know these times for me ****. The best I got at this track was a 12.4 the last time I was there. I could not get any traction and was spinning like crazy towards the end of the night. But, the times show with two novice drivers on the same track, the Viper GTS wins by about .4 seconds each time.

I am now running consistantly in the 12.6's with my Z06 and I
am no pro. My best sofar is 12.620 I have been out to the
track three times so far.
I know the Gen II Vipers are usually running in the 12.3-12.6
range out here with minimal mods.

As I said, it is not a very well prepared track. It was test and tune night. It is 50 miles away from me but it is the closest drag strip to me. I'm sure we would both have run better at a better track. I get better times on the street with my G-tech than what I got at this track with my G-tech also. But, we both raced side by side under the same track conditions and you can see the results.

I had similar results in my "creampuff" at the Corvette Museum festival earlier this month. I bested a factory supplied '02 ZO6 by 4 tenths and 6 mph on each of 3 runs down Bench Bend. These numbers do not tell the tale though. The issue for me was how the cars ran down the track. For the first half of the track the ZO6 was right with me, but each time when we passed mid track as I shifted to third I would walk visibly away, always ending up 2-3 car lengths ahead. The visible pulling away of my GTS at the higher speeds was worth more than any time slip.
