my Viper is better than me although I've gotten a little better over time. What a good school close to San Diego area, within a few hours drive, to attend. One of the ones I checked was all infield experience when seemed more for street control. I want to learn how to read the lines better, brake better without overbraking for the corners. In essence.....improve my lap times.

Suggestions?

I suggest a club event as apposed to a high priced driving school. You will get more track time and will be instructed by other club members. Some are racers and some are track day drivers.
Look up, Open track racing. They do events at Willow Springs in Southern California.
Must Do, Viper Days at Spring Mountain in September.

I've done Viperdays @ Willow and a couple of other events at Willow and Putnam Park. I just think I'm getting close to as good as I'm going to get on my own without some profession help. I'll be at WCV Willow Springs in August and Viperdays in Sept.

Yo Dave....

Set up is for the pit crew...oh yeah, that's me.

Either my life is too busy or you check my calendar before doing these as the 6th is out......

Did Amy call yet? I want those thing for Willow! I'll also have to reinstall the race pads.

Carl.

I think I understand your question.
Most of the two or three day schools are set up to provide more of an experience than real "racing" level performance.
They teach "the line", heel and toe down-shifting, smooth throttle function, trail braking, etc. but not driving at a real racing level.

Most people get faster by attending more events, and moving up to faster classes.

I believe you can get some higher level Professional racing instruction at the Spring Mountain (outside Vegas) facility. Used to be run by full of himself Guru Rupert Bragg-Smith. Think it is now run by Panoz people. We had some great Viper track time out there. They offer a Vette driving school. Would be worth checking with them for some private track time with their instructors.

I checked on a few websites this afternoon. You're right most are just "driving experiences".

Like I said, I'll be a Willow in August and if I don't melt I'll be at Viperdays in Sept.

Spring mountain is owned by Radical distributor and Viper guy John. The basic school is very much an experience, but not racing. They do have a more advanced school, but I went with buddies. The legal brothels are about 40 min away. I went, but just shot pool. Vegas was a bit over an hour away.
Bondarant has some multi-day advanced in Phoenix, some of which gets your SCCA license. My instructor at Viper days said those were great.
Skip Barber has a 2 day advanced in Vipers at Laguna Seca(infield unfortuneately, I think) that I might try.
