Eibachs

Last summer I upgraded from the stock 17s to 19s(front) 20s(rear) and my car has of course increased in ground clearance. I just think in general the car would look nicer and have an overall better stance if it were lowered about an inch or so, also making the gap within the wheel well lower as well.

I obviously understand lowering the car can also cause more problems such as rubbing for example. One of my friends had Eibachs on his and ended up taking them off. He thought the ride quality definitely improved when he put the stock springs back on. By quality I meant day to day street driving, not for track purposes and handling. I don't track my car or drive it too hard(at least not all the time), and I don't drive it everyday either. I consider it more of a show car, but of course like to have my fun with it when I can. So I have been considering trying the Eibachs out, even though some people have told me to keep the stock springs.

I figured a new set of Eibachs would go for around the $300-$350 range. So if I decided to buy a set, does anyone have any in great condition at a good price? I figured worst case scenario, if I got them and didnt like the feel of the car for daily driving, I could just put the stock springs back on eitherway.

Any thoughts and knowledge on this subject whether it being positive or negative would be greatly appreciated.

I think the stance looks fairly stock to me now. If you like the ride quality, IMHO I wouldn't change it. I agree that lowering looks better, but the ride quality will suffer to a degree.

I have Eibachs on my '06 and it definitely looks killer. THe ride quality was better with the stock springs, but Iam like yourself in that I don't track the car and seldomly drive it. Therefore, the ride quality part does not affect me that much. Car still rides nice though.

Its a viper....doesnt exactly have the best ride quality anyways (for comfort...compared to most cars) so just go ahead and lower it

I purchased my GTS with the Eibachs already on it. I thought the ride was to comfy and soft so just last month i yanked the stock koni shocks and stiffened em up. Much better now.
Part of the soft ride in the Gen2 comes from the soft seats. Man, my wifes mazda3 has firmer seats than the viper.

Ive had a car with stock springs and aftermarket firmer shocks
and
a car with eibach springs and stock shocks

Firmer shocks make more of a diff from my experience

Interestingly, the nose of the car scrubs teh ground more now (sits lower) with 19/20 inch wheels than it does with the stock 18s. The tires DO NOT scrub on the car.

I am running Invos 275/30/19 on front and 345/25/20 on the rear.

I have my 95 lowered with Intrax and the 01 lowered with Eibachs and no regrets at all. Definitely one of the best cosmetic mods you can do to these cars. Also, make sure when you put the eibachs on to adjust the dampner on the stock Koni's to 3 half turns out from all the way stiff.
This setting seems to work with with the Eibachs and the ride is not that bad at all.

o yea, forgot to mention it is tough manuvering in/out of parkinglots and going over speedbumps with my ride. The facia nose/chin takes alot of abuse.

I could not imagine riding on Eibachs AND Caps...

Go with One or the Other. Eibachs will lower a bit more than caps, but caps should have minimal effect on ride since spring/shock stays stock.

My vote is for just Eibachs

Didn't think Eibach made lowering caps.... but I may be wrong.

i wasnt thrilled with the springs AND caps. i had OEM springs put back on with just the caps. its slightly higher but i like the ride much better and in NJ, its not a bad thing.

didnt measure, sorry.

i had the caps installed and the very ends of the springs "nipped off", maybe the last 1/2" id guess. I would guess the total drop was an inch or slightly more after it all settled. but no numbers to back it up.

For you guys that went with just caps: how much did it effect your alignment, and could any good shop do the work?

any shop could do it. but the alignment does need to be done after it settles a bit. again no numbers on the alignment but tires are way to expensive for me to risk.

I agree that your car sits too high.

I have had Eibachs on my 98 GTS, my 92 Stealth TT and my 2001 GTS. The 2000 ACR has ACR shocks and springs. Like the Eibachs best. Stock GTS springs for sale if somone needs them. I prefer the ride of the Eibachs and the ACR rides softer. I didn't notice any 'stiff' ride or banging of the Koni race shocks as reported by others for their ACRs.

The ACR was adjusted way too low and the nose does scrape lots, so I raised the height of the car to the level of my GTS. The Eibachs seems perfect to me. My car is equipped with VR1s which push the tires to level with the body of the car and increase the track width quite a bit. On occaission I do hear the driver's tire touch. I've worn out 2 sets of street tires with no problems. My Stealth has Eibachs and GAB shocks and is similar. My newest Stealth TT has stock springs with the GAB racing shocks and stock springs. Way too high and I prefer the Eibach ride.

I honestly like the ride and handling MUCH better with the Eibachs on. I found a new set in the Alley classifieds for $170. I think caps would be too much for me.

Yes, I am interested in measurements. Do all Eibachs drop you 1.25 inches? I'm thinking that would be ideal for what I'm looking for since I want more then a 1 inch drop. Could you PM the link you found for $170?

See my pic above. Springs and caps and I love it. I scrape the protector under the nose sometimes but it doesn't really hurt anything. I just have to be careful, and I do that already anyway.
