Low cost mod that (I hear) will up-grade the sound for bigger smiles all around ...
Remove the resonator and flip the muffler end for end.
Am I right that this will improve the sound and not throw codes?
I cannot imagine anyone taking the time and effort to do that to the muffler.
No codes will come up until you remove the cats.
Opt.1: Removing the side sill resonator and leaving the rear muffler will sound lousy and produce drone enough to cause hearing damage. Little change in volume level.
Opt.2: Removing the cat alone will sound lousy and produce drone, not as much as above, but still more than you'll be willing to put up with. Little change in volume level.
Opt.3: Removing the rear muffler. Despite some info above, it will not make a huge difference, and I don't think that's what you're going for. It will sound better than the above two, somewhat. SnakeOyl makes a muffler delete set-up, or did.
Opt.4: Removing the cat (or replacing with a high flow, or sims) and the side resonator while leaving the rear muffler will be as loud as you will ever want and still be able to carry on a conversation at highway speed with little to no drone. If you go that way, you'll know that the rear muffler is not (as claimed above) that restrictive! It's also made of stainless, and looks great from behind when it's nicely pollished. Rtttted's heard mine, and although his is louder by far, I'm sure he'd agree that mine is one of the louder ones in our crowd.
That's my $0.02, and you can guess that I've tried all of the above and ended up at opt.4. Let us know how you make out.
