I have an xmetal TB on the shelf. It's not installed for 2 reasons.

1 - is stupid, I keep thinking about the ROE SC setup & think why install if I hope to go this route next year (may be a pipe dream due to $)... duh, just take it off & sell it then.

2 - I remember reading a post or two about dyno'ing after install & dropping a few ponies. Does anyone have experience on before & after results?

I'm thinking of doing a VCA dyno day on Sunday & can't help thinking it'd be cool to do a pull or 2 & then install it and pull again. Of course, I have to go thru the instructions again to see if that's plausible time wise, etc. Love to hear others' thoughts, findings.

Dave.

I don't have any before/after, but with the t-body I was at 470whp and 505wtq. Basically nothing else besides t-body, cat-back, and green filters.

Even if the t-body does nothing, it's worth it just because it looks cool. I was surpised and how much better the whole engine looks with just a better looking t-body.

I have had mine on for a year or so now. The first thing you will notice is an increase in throttle response. it is apparent right from the first drive and is much better than stock. One thing you should know is that many, including myself, have suffered from idle hang after installing. Now to X-Metal defense, I have not tried to back out the set screw screw a bit but i have tried to reset the computer several times. I hope to be able to make some adjustments soon.

I'm very happy with mine. No throttle hangups. Better throttle response. I haven't measured the horsepower gain but TBs are not going to give significant increase in any application. I'm sure there is an increase but 10 hp or so is hard to measure/feel. There are too many other factors that will "cover" over small increases. I just followed the instruction closely. Existing throttle blade screws have to be filed down before attempting to remove them. It sat on my shelf for a while too. No regrets other than it looks too pretty.

I have one installed and overall am very happy with it. I do have a small amount of idle hang at times. I need to redyno mine as I had my PCM reflashed. At times it does seem a little more herky/jerky than with the stock throttle body - almost reminding me of my Gen 1 "bucking" when the throttle bodies needed to be sync'ed.

Mine is fine. I did have a hanging idle that was caused by the actual blade binding to the TB. It would only show on the car after warming up, not on the bench. So I sent it back to Gary and he machined it a touch more and now the problems are all gone. He also made me some custom screws for the TPS to get it just right as well.

If this is the solution to the idle hang. I really wish X Metal would have addressed it.

I dont think mine binds. Is it something you felt in the peddle? Also what does custom screws have to do with the TPS sensor?

I think I'll open it back up this weekend & look at it. If it's an easy swap back & forth I'll throw it on & see how it is, if I don't like it then I can swap back to stock I guess. Just seems like there are some possible issues and no way to predict if I'll have any. My car is running so sweet, I'd kick myself in the head if I did anything to give it an idle hang or something. Thnx guys.

Bummer. Thanks. I guess I'll think about it, but I may throw it up on ebay considering what I'm reading. Thanks again, all.

Nader, I could feel it in the pedal and when moving the blade/cable by hand under the hood.

I had an odd experience in that on the bench, there was no sticking, but after I mounted, it was sticking. Loosened up the bolts and re-teghtened in a different sequence and no sticking.

The guys at xmetal truely beleive that there TB makes more HP. Mine showed it didn't on the dyno. Then the conversation turned into now to dyno. It was an interesting conversation but, one would think if was to give more HP it would do just that and it didn't it was less. Not much but, less and that may be due to the dyno, temp, etc I wasn't in the mood to play musical TB. I could not feel any difference. Kind of like the rest of the Viper bolt ons I did. I love this car and it runs great. I just stopped doing things to the motor. I guess its all about the waranty. The best thing I did was get the computer dialed in by DC Performance. New gears,Corsa and some lightweight rims which I like a lot.

The motorcycle mags used to say it takes a 10% change in HP to be able to feel it SOTP. I've made changes that didn't make my car feel any more powerful, but later showed gains over 20hp at the strip..

Had the tb on for a couple hours...

My tuner never fixed my car correctly.. So I went somewhere else and decided to do a twin turbo build..

The tb worked nicely... No hp notice.. but throttle was more responsive... I like it.. You do have adjust your pedal feel a little bit otherwise you could buck...

Definitely not to a post by DC Performance :dunno: :rolaugh:

But anyone interested in the BBK unit can definitely PM me and I'll get one out to you ASAP.

We have a couple more in stock that we're offering @ $495 shipped!

- Brandon @ DC Performance

Brandon,

Yes you are quite correct. But the content is about the BBK unit.
I misread the poster's name, ACPERFORMANCE, which is very close to yours.

I love my XMetal TB, No issues here. Quality product for sure!

I have to agree with you on quality and ease of installation. I just got no bang for the buck. I must say a few things first it's sharp looking, Second it was a fun project and the instructions were right on. Thats about it.

Thanks again. i guess I'm still thinking about it. If it were just looks, since I've got it, I'd throw it on.

I'm just afraid of causing an idle issue like some report, or even losing a few HP. I guess if it doesn't add any, then so be it, but I'd hate to give up any. :-(

Can anyone here actually get ahold of Gary at X-metal?
The site has been down for weeks now and the staff at the superbike shop won't put me through.

Why go to a single blade? DC has a new larger double blade for the few extra ponies but with tapering similar to the factory unit eliminating off idle issues, etc. and it's ready right of the box so no blade swap is needed.
