Hey there everyone! I just joined the Viper Forum a couple of days ago. Right now I'm driving an '01 Z06, but I am a very likely future Viper owner. I wanted to get to know the Viper community while I hatch my plans for the eventual Z06 replacement. I'm sure I'll ask everyone various questions about their cars from time to time, but for now I just wanted to say hi!

Thanks guys, the questions will be forthcoming. Now, to answer yours, Jim, I'll tell you why ...
It's actually pretty simple, I was looking for the fastest, best car I could get for $50k. For a long time I had been thinking about a used NSX ('95 or so), but then the realization set in that 270 horsepower would just not cut it. GM had just come out with the Z06 and the reviews were glowing. I briefly considered a used Viper, but my $50k price limit would have kept me out of a newer one, plus I had a built-in bias from hearing too many people say that Vipers are horrible daily drivers. My Corvette is my only car.
Anyway, that's why I got the Z06 a year ago. I love it. But as time passes, income increases and so does my desire for performance. When my Z06 comes off lease in 2 years, I'll be ready for something new. I am pretty sure my next car will be a Viper, which is why I'm here.
Thanks for the welcomes. See you guys around.

okay.. now I see you hit that dam limit!!!
so now that your "thinking" you can do this.. talk with Bill Pemberton from Woodhouse.
I talked with him for a good 2 years before I bought it from him.
he answered all my dumb question emails.. and was great to deal with.
delivered the car to the door with no headache at all....
definitely give him a shot first....
good luck and best wishes
p.s. 4,500 miles in one summer (priceless)

Jim, you are the second person to recommend Bill Pemberton. Venom Lover also said the same thing. My current plan is to buy a used '01 or '02 in two years -- should I still deal with Bill on a used car?

Chris is a very cool guy. I've spent some time over the last 2 days exchanging e-mails and talking to him on the phone. What Chris really needs to do is talk to Pemberton now and have Pemberton convince him how beneficial it would be to terminate his lease early. Just my opinion!!!

Terminate the lease and buy a Viper now. You won't regret it - in fact you'll be thrilled for life!

I didn't realize you guys would be so dangerous to my current lease! Thanks for the welcomes! I will try to speed up the Viper buy, but it's not going to be right now, sigh ...

Call Pemberton anyway, you've got nothing to lose. He's very creative and may have some suggestions as to how to get it done sooner. He won't be pushy and if you are lucky he may do his Donald Duck impression for you. My NCRS # is 1256 and he got me into Vipers!

Chris:

I looked at it this way - once you get over the pain threshold of getting into a Viper, the depreciation is about $4,000 - $5,000 a year. That's $400 bucks a month cost to own and drive one of the most thrilling cars on the road today (this logic worked on my wife and she now enjoys driving it too). Let the lease run but get into a Viper. You won't have any regrets.
