How much Nos can creampuffs safely handle?

Just curious how much spray my creampuff can take and for how long before blowing the motor? Aslo what is the propane setup exactly? Is it supposed to be safer?? I'm considering doing it, only if I can have a stealth install ;)

Having personally put the FIRST "creampuff" in the 10's, I can tell you that they will take about as much spray as the earlier cars, so long as you keep enough fuel running through them.

We have several 00' and newer Vipers making 700 RWHP with stock pistons. You can join em, by clicking on the link below.

Best of luck,

Tom

I saw a fairly recent car magazine article where they took a fairly stock, cast piston, Chevy 350 and ran a test series with nitrous.
They did what seemed like a good job, adding more and more nitrous and tuning at each step on a dyno.
They got the thing up to about 600+ hp before a piston top broke. They had the good quality cast pistons, Hyper something, I can't remember how to spell it.
So there is a limit.

Mike I think it will take a bit more than a 150 or even a 200 shot to get around the Supra’s in our area. Now if you are just talking about the pesky stock twin cars a little 100 shot will do nicely, but if you want to beat the bigger ones… Either way I want to see it! Everyone will be very surprised, which would be hella fun.

Aaron I'm not worried about stock cars cause I can and have beat them easily :D I know Chris with ESC ***** Roger with a bone stock Gts with just a 200 shot lol. I'm only concerned with Joe and Roger both of which put out around 600rwhp. So my 200 shot will deft put me over the top, cuase I will have way more tq and no lag ;)

Mike I don't know about the 200 shot beating Roger. Did you see the video? The Viper got the jump but the Supra was pulling him in on the top end.

Get the shot, that will be the easiest way to find out.

My NX kit will be here tomorrow. Installing this weekend. Will let you know Monday weather I still have a motor or not. I figure if you ruin your engine, that gives you a good excuse to replace it with something better.

100 to start. Its easily changeable up to, i think, 300. I am new with Nos so wanted so see how well I liked it before I went crazy with it. It was $1000. Pretty hard to resist.

Why go for cheap and dangerous ponies while you can put that $1000 towards doing the heads? Is it your first time you are installing No2?? Did you Nitrate your pistons??

A stock Viper with 150 rwhp, or Exhaust and 150 rwhp on juice will trap at 128-129 mph in the 1/4. this is about 580 rwhp.

On the streets 128 mph is decent, but you will not walk the Supras that trap with race fuel and big Singles in the mid 130's. To trap in the mid to high 130's with a 150 rwhp of juice you need a complete head and cam package, or you can stay bolt ons and go higher on the juice.. i think on a Nitrous Viper you'll need around 670-700 rwhp to be in that range. That kind of Controlled Power (meaning traction) can put you above the top dogs!

I guess you are doing a wet shot I assume??? I'm really considering this route as well, cause I dont need the headache of filling 2 bottles. Anyone know if the 10 or 15lbs bottle will fit where spare sits? Can it be covered by a trunk matt??

I got the 10lb. Its supposed to fit nicely in the trunk. I dont play golf so I dont care about the trunk space. I am hoping the trunk will cover it as I have a trunk cover. If not that ok. Its not like a Nos bottle in the trunk of a viper was something to be ashamed of eventhough its a little white trash :)

I had a 200 shot, and I trapped in the mid 130's in my R/T. It did a little over 600 at the wheels, but I blew the motor sky high. Just be careful and take all the proper safety precautions and you'll be fine. I'd definitely do a window switch, full throttle switch, fuel pressure safety switch, etc. All three of these only cost 3 or 4 hundred bucks.

xsmph I aree with you about the heads and cam, but I'm worried that might be too much hp for cast pistons. that is 700rwhp and prob 800+ tq.

Hey Big, I see a new avatar, did you get another VIper?

Can you give details on blowing the engine?

THanks

Just curious of the details of how you blew the motor. Did you spray under a certain RPM or have to much bottle pressure. I am sure there had to be some reason the engine blew. Before I bought your kit I talked to several people who have been running the NX kit with no problems for over two years (even with the larger shots). While none of them were cast piston cars, I wonder if it makes that much of a differance.

Did you run colder plugs as well and have good octane gas? While I am not a N20 expert all my research has lead me to believe N20 when installed properly, with the proper amount of fuel and common sense when using it is a very safe mod.

I'm thinking you had the wet kit I asume, cause no way would anyone spray a 200 dry shot :p Hmm never heard of the fuel pressure safety switch before? the other two I had before with my old setup in the vette, and was going to do them again :) Btw the motor you blew up, was that with cast pistons? Thanx.

i run 200 rwhp shot to my creampuff. you should be able to jump 5 car lengths immidiately on a 60mph roll. hard for them to catch up after that. thats against 600hp supras. i guess the 900 ft pds of torque with nitrous @ 3000 rpm helps.

Trent how many bottles have you ran and what setup do you have? Thanx. I dont have a problem beating supras close to 500rwhp it's those with 600+rwhp that I'm worried about lol.

I don't know about other areas, but around here most Supra's are BPU upgrade. Few have a big single or upgraded twins with the proper fuel set up. My best friend has a T-78 single turbo Supra, and it only did 465 RWHP at 18 pounds of boost because he has yet to upgrade the fuel system. I kill him all the time with a 150 shot in my gen I. A few other friends of mine have BPU + supra's on stock twins and are doing about 410 RWHP, should not be any problem for a Gen II Viper in stock trim let alone with a small shot of N20. The one thing about Supra's is they pull like mad on top end, probably one of the few cars that will pull that hard at top end above 100 MPH.

WOW that is great.

With 900 RWT what are your quarter mile times?
