Maui.. what's up bro?? you can't move back yet.. i haven't gone for a visit yet! L.V. is really hot in the summer.. sometimes well over 100. i would think you would need a daily driver.. but.. your viper has always been your daily driver so.. get a hard top and your air will actually feel like it works.. let me know when you make it back out this way. I bought mine out in Vegas.. Saw a couple of them driving around while I was in town. It still got a lot of looks when cruising the strip. Sorry to hear that you are moving there though! ;)

Aloha Bill,
Nothing official yet. Could be 8-12 months away.
Just want to get the feel for owning one there. I think I would have to get a GTS though. (I would sell the RT here, probably could get $$$$$ more because of the rarity.)
Keep the replies of Viper ownership in Vegas coming.......

I've had mine for two months as of tomorrow, so here's my take. Bear in mind, I have only had the top on the car four times, so most of the time I drive *******.
:)
Prior to removing the mufflers and installing the Roe high flows, it was almost unbearable in the daytime. With the new exhaust, the car is so much better to drive, even in the heat. It was around 100 on Sunday, and I ran errands and cruised for a while in shorts and a T-shirt in relative comfort.
I plan on leaving the top off most of the year, since even in winter the daytime highs are still in the 50's.
I drive the car to work usually twice a week, 50 mile round trip. People give the car lots of looks, but in the side of town where I live, there's Lambo's, Ferraris, and Steve with his two GTS'.
;)
Hope that helps!

Sam, what part of town do you live in? I'm heading up to Vegas in about 30 mins to go look at some condos. I want to buy one this week, live in it a few months to learn the area, then I will rent or sell it and buy myself a much larger place there as a second residence since I am in Vegas a couple times each month as it is.

Take care,

Manny

IMO it is too hot for the RT... You are really burning up when the Sun is beating down on you and the temp is 110.

If you can't take the heat, you're a pansy ;) Last summer I was down in Tampa & Naples, FL, no A/C (had broken before the trip) & top off, and 100+ temps, it was great!

I love the heat, up to about 100 but last time I was in Vegas was in July and it was 120 friggin degrees. We were at the hotel pool and it was impossible to lay out. You had to be either in the water or inside as it was brutal. An RT in a "normal" state is debatable, but in Vegas, or Phoenix, I personally would rather have a GTS, not that I'm biased anyway. Now having an RT as a 2nd viper for the cooler months in Vegas would be cake.

But I wonder if you'd laugh at that temp with 90% humidity. MD doesn't get up that high in temps, but it's normal for low to mid 90s for average in summer.

I've had my GTS since mid-May and only had it run hotter than I'd like once (in stop and go traffic coming up Charleston when it was about 120 out). Otherwise, no problems. There are more high end cars in the Summerlin area (where we live) so you get looks from other drivers but not as many as you might in other areas where cars like the Viper are less commonplace. Also, our pump gas only goes up to 91 octane unless you go to a Union 76 and put in a few gallons of the 100 octane stuff from the pump...other parts of the country still have 93 octane, right?

Edit:
Also, it's not like the weather is boiling hot here year round. The winters are pretty decent and in all reality the summer's not bad at all either.

Maui - keep the roadster. Put on the top when its killer out & go ******* in the winter. With the RT, you get the best of both worlds...Besides, the coupe is gonna be at least a 10K upgrade & you're gonna need that for the tables...

All I know is I just got back from running errands and cruising w/ the top off, and having no need for the A/C.
It was around 93 today and it felt great!
Wussies.....
;)
I've only met two people in town w/ Vipers, one is Vegas Viper(Steve) and another owner named Trent.
I haven't found a website, though.

What side of town do you live on? BTW: I've met Trent as well through a guy I know from my gym with a very fast Supra. I believe he recently changed from NOS/propane to a blower. He may still be reading these boards too, so speak up if you're out there, Trent.

Something no one has mentioned. I think the convertable would be a great solution. When the sun is out and it's boiling hot, just keep the top up, and with the improved 03 airconditioning you cruise in comfort. When the sun goes down it only takes 15 seconds to lower the top, and you are now cruising in style.
I noticed when driving my coupe in Vegas that the roads seemed to have a fine layer of dust on them which made them slippery. The Viper was constantly slipping and sliding. While this was lots of fun, I found myself being easy on the throttle.
Making the transition from Hawaii to Vegas will take a little time. The Vegas lifestyle, and entertainment is world class, but going from warm and humid, to hot and dry is a leap.
Suttletbutt says next VOI may be back to Vegas. If so you can check it out with over 800 Vipers in town.

My exact thoughts Tim. Especially when he's used to driving around Hawaii with the fresh air breezin' by!

Paul, not sold on the SRT,,,,, yet. It would make sense in the Vegas scene. Went to VOI 5 It was a blast!

If anyone has the VOI Vegas overhead group shot. I am in the front row, right of center. Not sure which day though

2001 Blue, had the car in Orlando. I am used to extreme climates :)

Moparman, thanks for the site! It is not linked to the VCA clubs section.

I live in Las Vegas, and it is great. You can drive your all year round. Just have the top on during July, and August until about 6pm. Other than that, keep the top off. If you are moving here let me know. We have a great club in vegas.

Maui - you got a great/rare color Gen 1 roadster too. Sneakin' off the strip cruzin' thru the desert is that much better with the wind thru your hair...

PS - you'll miss the sidepipes!!

PSS - if you're gonna unload it, PM me first!

I live in Summerlin, near Sahara/Hualapai.
Trent was running NOS, now he's got the Roe blower, looks and sounds great.
:)
Daniel is the fellow w/ the Supra, he sometimes visits our club meetings(F-body club, that is) ;)

Yep, I got to know Daniel fairly well through the gym and I've gone to LVMS a couple of times with him. Last I heard he was running high 10's with his Supra.

I'd like to make it over there someday and that's the same thing I've heard about the heat and using the top until the dusk hours. Of course having a GTS I don't worry about the top issue. Great place to visit.

Cheers,
Chuck

Personally, i don't trust valets anywhere...i was a valet for a ritzy restaurant in Boston when i was in college...
i couldnt believe how they drove the top end cars...burnouts, e-brake slides,racing...
one kid took a new vette up on route 93, hopped the median because the car got called back in to its owner, and totaled it into an SUV.
You'd never think it if you met they guys either, clean cut, shirt & tie, late 20s, some were mid 30s.
Maybe im just paranoid...
I'd rather pay an extra $20 and park it myself...
just my .02

I haven't parked my Viper at a casino and left it, but I think it would be fine depending on the casino and where you parked. For example, I don't think I would leave my GTS in the parking lot of Circus Circus, but I may be willing to park it in sight of a security camera at a place like Mandalay Bay. I saw a yellow GTS sitting in the south parking lot at Sam's Town yesterday, so some people do park their Vipers at casinos.
