Just Picked Up Rare 1:24 silver RT/10!

Well, wasn't planning to add anymore to my small collection, BUT I came across a silver RT/10 and couldn't pass it up. I. Know I have't seen many of these and know they are kind of rare.

First thought coming to mind is that it is Maisto like the one from the 3 model set I told you about?

Yes, you are correct!!! Just checked and it us, in fact, Maisto. I actually prefer the Maisto motor...better detail. It is the one from the three set, but this one is from the single and comes new it its original box. So, aside from the set, I think this is one of the more rare colors available...seems more rare than green, McViper and B&W in RT's.

In the Maisto line, I've only been collecting the GTS's. I recently picked up a 3-pack of Maisto's, but they were 2 GTS's and the Concept Car. I'm waiting for it to arrive.

I already have the #3075. I keep them in original form. If you were suggesting that to duplicate my car, I already have a Burago 1:24 GTS that is solid red with gold wheels. I bought it loose, so I don't know the model number.
One of these days, I need to take a picture, but I hate to take them out of the boxes until I get more display cases.

You will like it up close. The red safety harness has a nice contrast to the seat color. The gold wheels (well, you can guess how I feel about gold wheels) look great.

Ughhhh, just went yesterday to pick up a small display case at Michael's for my latest (silver) RT and....yup, you guessed it, NOT!!!! No new stock on cases.

Now, hoping they're still there, have to drive half hour to the other Michael's...maybe I'll buy a few extra.

Not sure I answered question above, but I think it is the same silver RT that comes in the 3 piece kit. But, this one came in its own box (picture). So, for 1:24 RT's, IMHO, the two rarest colors are green (have) and silver (got)! Will eventually pick up B&W, but so far, priced to high for me to waste the money.

Been working on fixing up the other side of my front garage wall. Just not sure how many diecasts I actually want in there.

I know its cleaner and neater, but still doesn't have that real "finished" look...though I do think the diecasts help a little.

Problem is, I just don't know where to put all the medium sized stuff...my shed is about full and I can't just throw a lot of it out.

And, so, not sure what I am missing in 1:24 RT's. So far, have:

White & Blue
Yellow
McViper
Green
Red


Also have:
Red (custom, black wheels)

I know I am missing:

Blue & White
White (see it, but don't recall Viper ever coming in white)
Black, no stripes
Black with silver stripes
1992 Pace car (seem to be original when I see them)

That's all I can think of.

Are you focusing on a single manufacturer, or just the color schemes? I have a Black w/ silver stripes in 1:25 by AMT/ERTL, but it is plastic. It is part of a set with a white/blue and McViper. Okay, a few things.....

Yes, focusing on 1:24 diecast metal RT's only, Bburago or Maisto. I have one red AMT RT, not enough detail for my liking.

Have to correct my "I have" list:

Have black with silver stripes
DO NOT have green, all black, B&W or white.

Last and certainly the thing that ****** me off....NO MORE CLEAR PLASTIC DISPLAY CASES AT MICHAELS. Just hit both stores this morning and they had them on clearance...sold out, not getting more!

Did pick up one extra for 1:18 just in case...still on sale fo $9.
Going back on the hunt for cases....

True, true! That is why I buy selectively and wait for that one inexpensive pickup. I would buy the red 1:18 Rt with Silver stripes, but it is close to $40 incl ship and that is way too much for my interest level.

That's because it IS I slowly built up a collection with interesting Viper models over the years.. on one occasion I ordered about 6 Minichamps GTS-R's in one month after locating a seller who sold them FAR beneath their worth and that was with shipping out of Singapore too and in immaculate condition!

So, not complaining (much), but received the silver one yesterday. Arrived in its box, shipping strap in place over the hood.

On close examination, noticed a number of imperfections in the paint which I thought, at first, was damage from owner. But, then noticed that it is imperfection in the mould on both top sides of the rear fenders and next to the front signal lights. Poor quality/quality control on the part of Maisto.

But, since I am not truly collecting for value, just more for show, I am not as concerned. Pretty stinky though!

Oh well, back to the garage fixup.

I just checked my 1:24 silver maisto rt/10 and I don't see any imperfections, except one spot where there are 3 little bumps. I needed to really look to see those. Mine has a strap over both the hood and around the door area. The box has #31900 on the UPC label to compare if we have the same model.

Well, on my FIFTH Michael's store, I actually came across two of the small 1:24 size cases! One had a small crack and the other was perfect...they gave me a discount for the crack, so it only cost me $3.99.

Seems I've hit all the Michael's stores that are anywhere near me, so I'm done. I did win an Ebay auction for three 1:24 size cases from Ertl, so we'll see what those are like.

Waiting to find "that buy" on a blue & white 1:24 RT as well as green and all black. Should have those one of these days.

Good news... I spoke to the purchasing agent at Michael's. They have 8000 of the medium size display cases in the warehouse and there are 2000 in stores. Somehow the SKU got turned off and that's why the stores think it was discontinued. She is tracking this down and getting it resolved. She also said that you can ask the store to special order a certain quantity for you and they will hold them when they come in.

That's good info. Actually, I haven't had an issue with the medium (1:18) boxes, found plenty of those. The small ones, I was told in three stores, were discontinued and no more will be ordered.

I did buy one extra medium case just in case I do come across a 1:18 B&W RT....

Thanks for spotting the 1:24 B&W, I think I've seen it...if its on Ebay.

My local store never has either case (for 1:18 or 1:24). When I talked to them, I only asked about the medium size. I suspect there may be a similar issue between the different size cases. She is supposed to call back when it is resolved and I can ask about the smaller one at that time.

So funny....yesterday I dropped my nieces and nephew off at the shopping center in Spring Valley and there was a Michaels. Went in and they had THREE of the small cases still there. Bought two as I still have one extra. Think three more cars should do it for my collection of 1:24's. B&W, black and the green I just picked up.

Green is coming...I just picked up all black 1993 new in box by Bburago, has chrome Gen I wheels:
