Is this a photoshop, or do you really have this installed?

I like the in-dash Passport controller. (Mine sits up on the dash. Yours looks better.)

wow that looks really really good...i was actually planning on doing this or an alpine screen (single din) as soon as I pick up my srt-10. How is the finish? how much work was required to install this unit? Looks great.

You need to sell your Viper.

It's stuff like this that's turning this car into a Corvette.

not to hijack the thread but I need a stock radio that works, do you still have yours? I'm on my second one and it will not give me back or play my cds. i don't want to make 3 trips to the local dealer for this as it should be a simple swap.

You need to start appreciating everyones love for the car...just cuz they don't love that stock deck as much as you love yours doesn't mean he has to sell his viper

Excellent job, Mike; skillfully done.

Do you mind sharing the price of the installation? Looks quite pricey. The stock unit is the dregs.

I love comments like that from long time Viper owners. Especially VCA regional officers.

OK, maybe I was short.

I worry about the future of the car when we're putting items into it so that one can watch movies or play games.

I worry about the future of the car when I see so few being tracked (Kai and Steve excluded, or course)

I worry about the future of the car when there are complaints about the "ride" and folks asking for things like cruise control...

I want this to be a driver's car, not a rolling video game.

Well, don't worry. It's not your car and all SRT owners are not asking for cruise control. I was also unaware there was a requirement to "track" the car. If there was, most Gen I and Gen II people would be in violation as well. :2tu:

DSR207 - Exactly what had to be done to get this unit to fit? is the install as clean and flush as it looks in the pictures? Very nice job.

Installation by sound solution, clean, flush and very hard to convince most that it is aftermarket work...I'm not sure how they got the face so good, I know they put fiberglass on the back of it to make the the double din hole, but I don't know how they did the smooth curves .

I think that the VCA needs new ambassadors who embrace the evolution of the car.

Many of us Gen III folks enjoy reading these types of threads.

The install looks nice, congrats on the great job!

Jody:

It was very difficult for the traditional Harley owners prior to the Evolution motor (late 80s) to adapt to the changes not only in their bikes (smoother, more reliable, better designed and faster) but to the RUBs (rich urban bikers) who began buying them (doctors, lawyers, etc). However, for Harley, it was the RUBs buying power that began the new financial strength of Harley-Davidson. As you suggest, things evolve and change is often painful. Mike's installation is very impressive, and if the factory offered it as an option (they will not), there would be more SRT-10s ordered with it than without it. I would like to see photos of what else Mike has done. Note his pedals and mats are also quite different (ahem, Mike, you need a new shifter from MGW).

FYI
I am no longer the Carolinas Region President - after 5 years I did not run again so that the club would have a chance to grow in a direction of it's own.

And officer or not, I have just as much right to an opinion as other Viper owners. Sometimes it may not be popular, but it's mine. And as far as being an ambassador for the Viper, I'd be willing to guess, of all the folks I have helped - Gen I, II, and III, they'd all say I was a pretty good one.

Maybe you should change that avatar then ... ;)

And the winner is ALICE..... Finally.... someone noticed the pedals and matching mats...Great complement to the MAMBA colors. As for the shifter, I'm planning on shortening it about an inch in the future...THANK GOD FOR PEOPLE WITH OPEN MINDS AND APPRECIATION FOR GOOD WORK, LIKE MOST OF US HERE... :2tu: :usa:

Mike:

After several discouraged the B&M and Hurst shifters, I merely bought the shortened shifter from MGW and set aside the Mamba shifter. You can cut down the stock shifter, but the MGW is a faster route, and George also makes one even shorter requiring their bezel (their regular short shifter does not). I have a local machine shop which has made me stainless steel DLP projector extensions and would have cut downt he Mamba shifter...could not make myself do it.

The pedals and mats...ZAF or where? Can you get another shot of them?

Are you going to put the Coupe's gas cap on your Mamba when available?

P.S. What else do we not see?

This is an excellent example of utilization of available technology to markedly improve the car. To those of us that are geographically impaired, a navigation system is most helpful. Overall fit and finish is superb. Kudos to you!!
