It was fun to be the only Viper at the cruise in. It garnered a lot of attention. Some had to look at the emblems to figure out what it was. Some people's jaws dropped at the sight of the massive V-10. A couple people came up to me and said "Those go for around $100K, huh?" I just shook my head as if to agree. Fun, very fun. :2tu:

The vette is a great car, same as the viper. Who the hell cares about attention? These cars are incredible performance machines and I would hope most own them for that reason.

The Vette is fine, but it is absolutely not the same as the Viper. It's not about attention but owning something truly special and unique.

I only own mine cause I wanted a two door car, and they stopped making two door Neons...the Viper was the next best thing. Hell, they even put in a Neon radio for me...real custom!

I never said they were the same. I will say that Viper guys sure are more concerned about this "war" then vette guys. Why draw a line? We all own the last of a dying breed. Some people choose vette, others choose viper, and some choose both. Why waste your time criticizing?

.... Why waste your time criticizing?

Brand loyalty, cheering for the home team, the same reason Vette guys "save the wave". It's all about camaraderie with your peers for your own brand.....Plus, the Viper is just way better!

I've owned both, as have most of the Viper owners here, and I can personally say the Viper is much different. Even owning the C6 Z06, it didn't capture the feel and passion of the Viper. When a car is made for the MASSES, that's exactly how it feels.

I put war in parenthesis because for those that are new to the Viper game, this is how it appears through numerous posts both here and over on the Alley. I just used this thread to ask why there is such a dislike towards corvette as I think they are phenominal machines in their own right. Then again, I don't hold any brand loyalty at all so I am probably the black sheep of the bunch.

I would say that most Viper guys are not concerned at all.....

People own Vipers for a lot of reasons, none of which have to be justified to anyone else.

I like all performance cars, just happen to like the Viper best. What's wrong with some good healthy teasing. 1.8t I think you're ******* have gotten a little tight, life's too short.

Paul, looks like the Vette guys let you down a bit, the real production ratio is more like 25,000:1 isn't it? 24,975 must have stayed home.

Thanks Flatout. The same observatin was made by my 7 year-old and he likes all cars. It's hard to say anything in this world anymore without someone being offended... or twisting what you say... Sad.

Slithr, yes I wonder what happened to those other 24,775??? There was another car show in a nearby town--bet they were there.

On a side note, I had a nice friendly conversation with the guy in the C6 Vette vert that was parked next to me.

What is phenomenal about the Corvette? Some models have great technology and handling, but unless you are getting the top model..... you get a small block chevy engine, in a car they make 25K of every year?

1.8t Hopefully knows I'm just messing with him, I like Corvettes just fine it's all in fun. My Wife is a Buckeye and is not a big fan of Michigan, and I am a Texas A&M Aggie and despise about all things Longhorn.

I had a black C6 convertible in between owning Vipers. It was really a nice ride.

Not sure if I offended you at some point to deserve the "I use gentlemen lightly" comment? I would use the term "enjoying" the Corvette lightly as well :)

No offense here, just pulling your leg a little. Actually, you seem to be quite a character, I look forward to meeting you. (BTW, Love the shirt!) Sorry, my attempt at humor didn't translate well over the internet,

The ratio of Corvettes to Vipers is about the same here (metro Detroit area), and the Viper definitely gets a lot of attention. I've had cars that get attention before, but the Viper actually gets people to be vocal (random traffic light conversations, gas station comments, etc.) rather than the usual staring.

Also, not that this was meant to be a 'Vette vs. Viper debate (like so many other threads here and on Corvette forums), but I think both cars get plenty of respect among car enthusiasts. The Viper just tends to get more attention from non-car people.
