I forgot and left the only key in the ignition of my 2005 SRT10. When I came back for it , the doors had locked!! I'll call the dealer or a locksmith in the morning. How will they resolve it?

Well, there is a little known hidden key slot under the crease on the drivers side door, almost directly under the rear view mirror. If you run your finger along and under the door crease, you will find it. If you don't have another key, maybe the lock smith start there. Good Luck!

The dealership should be able to cut a new key if you give them the vin and proof you own the car.

And from what I am told, you have to turn that key under the door rather hard. The only time I tried in my last Viper it wouldnt open, it felt like it wasnt working. I didnt feel like breaking anything so I popped the hatch to charge the battery. Upon research many other said its a hard turn so I am sure it would have worked if I just tried a little more and wasnt so scared of breaking it LOL

Mine feels like it doesn't even budge. I guess I need to turn it even harder to see if it works.

There's a reason it is "little known"...

Most OWNERS know about it. The OWNERS that don't are usually made aware by PM or other club members.....

Anyone else,.... doesn't need too know how to break into our cars....

Why do you think it is hidden....?

I personally don't think that's the real reason. It's hidden mainly for aesthetics as there has neven been a truly "visible" key hole on a Viper for any generation. Some of us who owned Gen. I's still remember the days of opening a door - especially with V-Mania's or the factory side curtains in place. If someone wanted to break into a Viper, would they take the time to pick a lock knowing that the system is armed, the doors are locked, and a flashing alarm/security light?

Hmmmm......
How do you open the trunk/back hatch/rear deck ?....

My Gen 2, 3 and 4 have a very visible, color contrasting, polished key hole right next to the license plate....:dunno:

So are detailed instructions to make ****, build bombs and kill people ......

Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it should be spread around....

Ok. Everyone on the internet. Don't look in the owners manual.

I'm amazed I've never had a car stolen, all of them had visible key holes. I didn't know I was living my life so far on the edge.

The original post mentioned opening the DOOR and not the trunk. I thought this discussion (see my response) was about opening the door.........................

Interesting how forums answer questions (or not). Another answer is - Assuming that you don't have another key - LOL,
A good locksmith will be able to make a new key by using a blank and your trunk key slot (that is more accessible) to make a key. I locked my keys in my trunk and a locksmith came out, stuck a blank in the slot, pulled it out, sprayed WD-40 on the blank, inserted and twisted real hard, went inside his truck and returned with a cut key for the trunk AND the ignition.
Now, I keep an extra key wire tied to a accessible place that only I know about.

The fact that there is a key hole under the door isn't a big deal or a secret. You still need a key, so I don't mind that one being out in the public.
What does not need to be out in the public is the trick of how to get into the trunk/hatch without a key.
