Hello,

I am considering the purchase of a silver w/ blue stripes 1999
ACR in Northern California.
The town is Hayword.
Is there anybody out there who could look at it for me?
There are pics on the classifieds here it looks nice.
But whant to be sure prior to flying out there.
I thought the first year of ACR and last year of forged pistons
might be a good combination. I am also considering two other ACRs
both 2001 first year of ABS but no forged pistons.
What do you guys think. All thins being similar what year would you choose.
You guys are great!

Thanks

Chris

I voted with my wallet. 2002 ACR. If you aren't going to increase horsepower, then the ABS brakes are more of an attraction that can save you if you or someone else makes a mistake out on the road. As far as maintaining resale value, I think it may be equal.

Just remember there were only 30 of the Silver with Blue stripe ACR's built. A LOT more rare and chances of seeing one on the road where you live are almost impossible. IL is one of the largest VCA chapters and there are no other Silver/Blue ACR's here but mine.

If you want more power in the future then the 99 is the one to get. If you care to keep it fairly stock then it comes down to price and color preference.

The car is actually 1 of 9 ACR's built in 1999 without the A/C and stereo comfort group. You can ask anyone in the Norcal Viper Club, this car is very well maintained. Very clean! Sounds great and runs strong! :2tu:

Jim,

What do you mean you voted with your wallet? Are the 2002's worth less? I wouldn't think so

Im 99% sure this car came out of NJ.... I almost bought it about 2 years ago. Then a dealer near me, ended up with it somehow.. Now, I guess it made its way out West.. When I was looking at it, I believe it had 10k miles on it.. VERY clean car...Just wasnt the right time for me to own another one.

Yes, I was told it was 1 of 9... Does NOT have comfort group.. One of the nicest color combos ever made in any GenII..

No, I just meant that I bought a 2002 ACR because I felt that it was the best choice for me. I preferred to have the ABS and didn't care about not having the forged internals since I don't plan on doing any engine mods. I don't drag race, or bench race; so, the car has enough horsepower for me.

Dan, If you ever consider selling your Viper or hear of another S/B for sale, please keep me in mind. However, from the sound of your post, I'm guessing you're like me, and will never sell it--but, just in case. Thanks, jim
