Marine Grade Sta-Bil

I took the car down off the lift today to moth ball it for the winter. I drove over to Advance Auto and asked where they keep the Sta-Bil. The counter guy gave me this whole big pitch about how everybody is using the Marine Grade Sta-Bil because it treats for water and ethanol. Anybody else heard of this ?

Use it. I am pretty big into the PWC scene, and do some boating. "We" are having tons of trouble with Ethanol in these. Stabil Marine is the only thing that helps worth a damn.

Regular Stabil will work fine, but the Marine grade will just be an added bonus in your car.

Thanks Jerome... I'll drop some in and run a little through. It just kills me that we are wiping out our food supply and jacking up the price of every meal so that we can run our cars on frikin corn meal and gum up the fuel system. The alternative is to drive an electric car that will set you on fire and is ultimately powered with coal for the most part. Will the insanity ever stop...

Read the MSDS on it and then you decide what good it is. It's just some oil and a mild "cleaner". As far as being able to work as a stabilizer, it is worthless. better off just topping of the tank with the highest octane unleaded you can get and forgetting about it.

We should all plan to get out a bit more this year... I was happy to get out yesterday just to run the Sta-Bil through. The town turned my street into a sandy beach because of that 1/4" of snow we got last night.

I have the same problem in CT. In addition to the sand all over the place the roads are also saturated with some type of calcium chloride solution that sticks to everything and doesn't want to wash off. Took the Viper out yesterday to get the Stabil circulated and when I got back I spent a better part of the afternoon cleaning the Viper. Was worth it though, glad I got out.

I agree, did very little as a club this past year. Maybe we could take it upon ourselves to organize some meet-ups and drives.

The government mandated evaporative emissions system will keep it from going anywhere, unless you store your car with the gas cap off.

The rule of thumb I've always been told by guys that are in the fuel pump business is that you want to store the car with the tank full - the ethanol in gas these days attacts moisture, and moisture will do bad things to fuel pumps. The more gas you have in the tank, the less room there is for moisture to accumulate, granted, the formation of condensation in a garage is pretty limited already.

Why the attitude?

Well I guess you told me. What, I don't know. Maybe you should learn how to post and use the quote function before you try and school me.

So, as someone who winterizes 100's of internal combustin engines each and every year, keep believing Seafoam is a form of stabilizer. I have used it, seen it fail, or do nothing as I state, and yet some still believe what they read on its website.

It's nothing but some oil, Naptha, and some IPA. Whatever that is. Maybe it's Stabil.............lol




Maybe I should bottle my *** and sell it as a stabilizer. I can state some bs too and get some suckers to believe it.
