Hey guys, need quick help, I am changing my diff fluid now, I looked up all of the forum and members suggest that I need to use 2 and some even say 3 Quarts of diff fluid and 4OZ of limited slip. However, I checked manual and it says that I only need to put 1.3 Quart of diff fluid plus LSD?
Why everyone here seems to recomend 2 Quarts and some even say 3 Quarts?
I intend to race few weekends of the year, should I overfill it? Do I need to fill the diff until it stars shooting fluid from the top fill plug?

Thanks.

2 quarts differential, 4 oz of friction modifier. I don't recall which one of our gurus I got the information from but I have a full listing and part numbers of fluids and their change intervals.

That is if it is the same as a Gen 2 which I believe it is.

Put your friction modifier in first and fill til it is at the bottom of plug.:D

This is exactly what I did, put my LSD first and then started pumping diff fluid, but in the middle of it decided to check with manual how much of the fluid I need to pump and got very surprised that it says 1.3Quarts or 41oz of diff fluid only. That is way under 2Qrts and defenately not 3 Quarts.
Do you really think I need to fill it untill it starts spewing diff fluid from the fill plug?:dunno:

Depends on how much of your old lube you drained out. Best to drain it when lube is warmed up. It should hold close to two qts plus the 4oz LSD. Also warm up the new lube bottles before pumping in. Really helps out when using a hand pump.:usa:

Simply put...to fill the diff, you NEED 4 oz of limited slip product an 41 oz of the lubricant. Since the Mopar lube comes in 32 oz containers, one needs to buy 64 oz in order to have 41 oz to use in the final fill. Now, many of us use the extra oz of the diff lube as a "wash" or "rinse" ...particularly if the diff has no separate drain plug. After removing this small volume of "rinse" fluid, then one fills the diff by adding the 4 oz of limited slip additive, THEN adding the 41 oz of the lube. And, yes, I fill the diff to the point that is runs out the fill hole...then, I suction out just enough fluid to stop the drip ( only a few milliliters ), and put in the plug.
Hope this helps.
