Need Rivits - for Gen I gas tank cover and rear fenders

I may use something else besides rivits for the gas tank cover in the trunk, but I do need some rivits for the rear wheel well covers. Does anyone know where to get these replacements from? ...order online from somewhere?

I got mine at my local autopaint.autobody supply store. You will need the extra large rivit gun to fasten.

McMaster Carr has them in red, black, plain...

And they all work with a standard rivet tool, assuming you buy standard sizes.

Give Pharr a call at A.R.T. when they're back from TX2K8. He was able to get some for me after the previous owner painted over mine, leaving one wheel well's rivets black and the other red. Doh.

When I replaced the fuel tank cover I drilled new holes beside the old ones and used normal rivets. Put dab of RTV silicone in old holes.

Didn't have weeks to wait for freight from a fastener supplier.

I'm out here in the bush! 30# UPS parcel to nearest city (200mi.) was $140. I sent that parcel to Texas for $60 Canada post (UPS said $198).

I bought a TB for $10 and $25 shipping. When I got it COD there was an extra $38 charge for "brokerage"?????

Those shipping rules are bull, except for certain conditions such as only bus. days, no 'rural areas' (add an extra 5 days for that), etc.

Their delivery here means to a warehouse 30 mi. distant. If they phone the bus, instead of my house it takes another few days before I go looking for it.

Small parcel average (UPS & USPS best rates have extra charges "brokerage fees" and take an average of 2 weeks). Sometimes it's over a month.

Canada Post and US Postalservice gets here just as fast and is less than half the amount of the couriers. Plus no "brokerage fees"!
